Re: fyi: another study why babbies should not watch TV

So that blog really has nothing to do with watching TV, and really just suggests more physical activity, right? So it wouldn't matter if kids were reading, playing boardgames, or playing with Legos; all would have the same effect in terms of being sedentary.

("The authors claim that the issue is not the screen time itself that is the problem, rather the time spent being sedentary.")

Thanks for posting! I think this is important to remember in this time of tv, computers and hand held devices! DD is only 3 months and we already catch her craning her neck to watch tv! Chat Icon

Agreed. I think if you make sure that your kids ALSO get plenty of exercise and time outdoors, they will be fine. My guess is that by LIF standards, my kids watch WAY too much TV but we also go on lots of playdates, go outside, and just walk around wherever we go, which is a great balance for us.

exactly and also being at school would also be a problem, no?

some of these blogs and articles, while their intent is good, it can truly mess a parent up

Mine too, but it's good to see that spending a couple hours inside reading would be just as bad as watching TV. Chat Icon So it is good to see that medical studies back that up, even if some bloggers twist the findings for their own agenda.

So, if DS runs around in circles while watching TV, is it OK? cuz that's how he usually watches TV.Chat Icon

Interesting. But it doesn't differentiate between a child being sedentary watching tv and a child sitting at home reading or coloring.

This is DS too, I don't even bother to try it anymore.

I have another study up my butt, how just having it on, affects toddlers listening skills in a very bad way.

I really should keep my endless supply of study reports to myself Chat Icon

LIFers are smart and that's why I try to post things I'm a little Chat Icon on, want to see intelligent perspectives

I used to read so many that I was driving myself crazy.. one would say do this and you'll have a great kid another said if you do it too much, then your kid will get a hemoroid by the age of 7, etc. it's like watching those prescription drug commercials.. it aides in ONE thing and yet beings on 934948723894 other different problems..

I prefer hoops on babies.

but they should not have their ears pierced before they are able to ask for themselves because it's cruel.

I hate rules.
Rules are made to be broken.
If I hear a rule- I do the opposite- just to be spiteful. Just to spite society.
It's a real issue of mine.
