Gagging on cereal
So I tried to give Luka cereal yesterday and he started to gag. I thought maybe it was to thick so I thinned it out and he was still doing it so I thinned it some more and same thing. I tried to give it to him right before he turned 4 months and he did so much better. He seemed unsure of the texture but still ate it. I couldnt even get him to swallow it. Should I wait some more before tring again or should I just keep tring. My doctor wants me to wait until he is 6 months old to start cereal but he is already drinking 35oz a day which she knows about. I just feel like the formula isn't really holding him through the day sometimes. He sleeps great at night so I dont have a problem their. Any suggestions?

Re: Gagging on cereal
Maybe put a little in his bottle. Especially before bed.

Re: Gagging on cereal
Put the bottle in his mouth to help the gag. My DD did this as well. It will go away just help him rinse it down quick. It's a whole different consistancy then there are used to.

Re: Gagging on cereal
I ould say he's not ready for cereal yet. If he cannot move th food around hios mouth and it is causing him to gag he probably is not ready yet, wait 2 weeks and try again.
eta- didn't realize he was 6 months, he should be ready, but eho knows

He isn't 6 months yet he is only 4.5 but I can't see waiting until 6 months. I think I will try again in 2 weeks.

Years ago they recommended waiting until 6 months, it is very commin for a baby no to be ready until; later on, I owuldn't push it, he could not be ready yet.

I agree he is not ready. I would wait a little while and try again.

I would just wait a week and try again. I agree. Babies change every day and I notice changes in Julia from week to week - so try again in a week - i bet he will love the cereal!

Re: Gagging on cereal
I'm gonna wait another month. My DH wanted me to try to give it to him even though I was on the fence about it and I wanted to see if anyone else went through it. Another 4 or 5 weeks I think will be fine. Thanks again
