Gallbladder questions...anyone????
Has anyone had gallbladder problems or had to have it removed? What were your symptoms? How did they diagnose you?
My mom has been in the hospital for days and all of the doctors STINK!!!!!!! They are claiming its a severe case of ibs and now they want to release her but she is in the same pain as when she went into the hospital and I just dont get it. Thanks for the feedback!

Re: Gallbladder questions...anyone????
I had my gallbladder out years ago.
The symptoms are really just the PAIN ...its very bad, I have always said its almost as bad as labor. Its hard to explain what the pain feels like. But my sono's clearly showed gallstones so they knew after the sono what it was...

Re: Gallbladder questions...anyone????
My mom could hardly even walk the day we brought her to the hospital. She had pain that started in her hips, went all the way around her back and settled in her right abdomen. She also had a burning sensation in her stomach. Whenever she drinks even a little bit, it gets so much worse. These all sound like symptoms right??

Re: Gallbladder questions...anyone????
actually no...your gallbladder is on your left side , and for me the pain was centralized. It hurt when I ate ice cream, dairy, spicy foods and would not stop afterwards. But again A sono is all she would need to rule out gallstones.

Re: Gallbladder questions...anyone????
I had mine out, I was doubled over in pain. It would come and go in periods and felt like the absolute worst gas I ever had. It hurt from my chest down to my stomach. I was doubled over in pain on the bathroom floor in a fetal position, it was so bad. My brother called an ambulance and after being in the hospital all day, they discovered I had gallstones and needed surgery.

ETA- IBS can be just as painful. I have been hospitalized for that twice too.
Have they brought up doing exploratory laproscopic surgery at all? I would recommend it. It is very minor surgery and can tell a lot. They can check the gall bladder and appendix and everything else in there. That is what they did to me one time I was in there for my IBS. They decided to just do it, to be better safe than sorry and luckily while they were in there decided to take out my appendix which turned out to be rotten!!

Re: Gallbladder questions...anyone????
yes it is on the right...I was wrong. I was 17 when mine came out. I would suggest she go for a sono. Its usually not something thats misdiagnosed...
I agree with mrs-boop...the pain was horrible. We called an ambulance because I couldnt even move.

Re: Gallbladder questions...anyone????
I had mine out emergently last year. the pain was really bad, worse than labor I thought. For me the pain was between by breatsbones, my side and around to my back an under my shoulder blades. It got really bad after I ate peanut butter (which I later found out was because of the high fat content). They agnosed me with bloodwork (high WBC) , they saw the stones on a sonogram, but they also did another nuclear test which I cant remember the long name. But basically I layed in a machine for 3 hours and they watched to see if this die they injected was able to pass though my ssystem or if it got blocked by a gall stone. For me , it did.
I hope your mom feels better. It was horrible.
The only thing that sound different is when I drank clear liquids I had no pain (3 days in the hpospital prior to surgery)
