gallbladder surgery- where will my incisions be?

I forgot to ask this and don't know if I need special clothing. (Like after a c-section granny panties were much more comfy than bikini because of the incision.)

Thanks!

Also, can you tell me what to expect for recovery. TIA!!!!

They are planning on laprascopic, but won't know for sure until they go in, so I'd like to hear from people who have had both.

Sorry I didn't clarify. Chat Icon

Re: gallbladder surgery- where will my incisions be?

I had my gallbladder removed 5 1/2 years ago, I was suppose to have the laprascopic but had the major surgery because it was diseased and affected, I was on morphine because it was uncomfortable but i felt better within 4 days, I came in on a thursday and was sent home that sunday... I wore sweatpants during recovery because i had staples in my stmach and sleeping at night was hard in the beginning i could only sleep on my back... But everyones experience is different.. But that was because i had the major surgery. Good luck and sending you fast healing dust.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

i had laparascopic about 7-8 years ago. My scars were very small and in various places on my belly (not far away from my belly button). They are the length of a standard staple - there are maybe 3-4 of them.

Recovery time was nothing major at all. I slept on the recliner couch at my parents' house for about a week and was good to go.

My mom had it done laproscopically and I do remember her buying different panties afterwards... she had four holes- one was in the belly button- one was higher than that...not sure about the other 2.
But she definitely bought some high waisted cotton underwear to wear afterwards because the area was sore...

As far as recovery- she went home the day after the surgery... stayed home for a week- and was back at work a week after the surgery.

Recovery time is much quicker with the lapro obviously...

I had laproscopic and there is one incision right below your belly button, and all the rest are above. So I'd think any panties that don't go above your belly button would be fine. (I dont remember getting special underwear, then again I might have just pulled them down.)

My mother had the regular surgery, and I remember her scar (one much larger incision) being pretty high up also.

My one tip is, ask the nurses for extra pillows and put them under your knees, it will ease the pain of the incisions. Laying flat will pull on the skin incision areas.

I had intenstinal surgery..full open. Anything that fell above the belly button was better. I pulled most of my pants way up for about two weeks. Some of them I pulled way down. I have an 8 inch vertical scar.

I was hoping for laparascopic but they couldn't get it out that way.

Either way, good luck.

My laparascopic scars are very small, I have 3. One is in my belly button, the other is right in the center somewhere between the center of my belly and my breasts, and the other is off to the right side close to the gallbladder. Because my belly button bothered me the most, I would wear granny panties or anything that will cover your belly button or come way below it.

Good luck!!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
