Garden window
Are "garden windows" old fashioned? We are starting our kitchen reno soon and deciding on Windows. Small kitchen with window above sink. Thought maybe this would open up the kitchen a little bit but now wondering if they are old fashioned?

Re: Garden window
When we did our kitchen this is one thing I insisted on. I LOVE it and its the first thing people compliment when they come in. I dont know why it would be old fashioned. It brings in a lot of light and I like having the shelves for plants etc. The only thing to think about is to make sure you have the space outside the house (where it juts out) so nobody will walk into it.

GREAT! I don't know why I think old fashioned, maybe because two of my aunts have them lol. Would you send me a pic if I send you my email?

Re: Garden window
I would love to have one of those, so I can grow potted herbs for cooking.

Was this expensive? My mom is looking to replace the window in her kitchen with one and the prices are ridiculous over $1k without installation - just the window! She really wanted one but is not willing to pay that price.

Re: Garden window
the window may have been around $600 or $800...not really sure as my contractor picked it up and I don't remember as it was part of a larger renovation...but I do recall it being less expensive than a "box window" which is nice but different (no shelves but contractors seem to think its a better window)
