Gas Conversion or new Hot water Heater
We just found out our hot water heater is done and it will cost us $2k - $3k to replace it. We've been tossing around the idea of converting to gas, so if we are going to do it now is the time. There shouldn't be a cost to run the gas line, so it will only be the cost of equipment/labor. I have no idea how much that is. Anyone who has done it care to share an approximate cost? We are looking to sell the house in another year or two, so I don't want to spend a fortune.

Re: Gas Conversion or new Hot water Heater
It cost us a little over $6K for everything. We already had gas coming to the house, they just had to extend the line to boiler room which was nothing really. We got a hot water tank instead of a heater since we wanted 50 gallons and could only fit a 40 gallon heater. Would have been about $500 or so less if we didn't do that.
We used Burner King were very pleased with them.

We spent around $6k as well which included a new 50 gal water heater...I would def consider converting it is just so much cleaner and easier. We used burner king as well.
