TIA

Before you do the switch or even think about it - call KeySpan first and verify that it can be done.

ETA: We pay $180/month for our oil, and that includes an annual contract for maintenance and repairs.

Depends on the oil rates, it varies. This past season I think gas was cheaper. Gas has more positives IMO-runs cleaner, never run out, no maintenance.

Re: GAS VS. OIL HEAT

We asked our neighbors who have gas what thier average bill was in the winter......

it was half what I paid for oil........

I had an old crabby boiler .............

I had a new gas boilder installed last month....... you can get a boiler for a good price from keyspan....

Re: GAS VS. OIL HEAT

Call keyspan. We are in the middle of this right now. It was already in front of our house, so it is free to bring it to the house, but the expensive part is all the plumbing for it. Get an quote from Keyspan, but also get a quote from a couple of other plumbers too, Keyspan was high. We are converting to gas for the heat, dryer & stove. Keyspan does have a deal going on right now, so check it out for your house and see what they give you. I like Gas better, runs cleaner, no maintainence, no running out & hopefully a lower bill. GL!
