Gastroenterologist Recs
DH need a 2nd opinion from a GI doctor. Does anyone have a recommendation? He has a Dr. who works for North Shore Univ. Hospital already but I want him to see someone more experienced/established.
We dont mind travelling to NYC if we have to but someone with an office in Western Nassau would be even better.

Dr. Angie Eng - she is in NYC and is affliated with NY Presb/Weill Cornell. Both of my parents have seen her for years and she has a very good rep.

She is on stewart avenue in garden city.
Very nice bedside manner and explains things thoroughly

I recommend the GI I used....Dr. Jay Steinberg of Huntington Medical Group. I'm not sure of his affiliation but this is why I recommend him:
Saw me immediately after I was in the ER even though I was a new patient. His nurse was EXCELLENT!!! She made all the hospital arrangements for my surgery and another procedure I had to have done. I returned the nurse's call one day and Dr. Steinberg saw that I called and called me back within an half an hour - I didn't even call for him. I was very impressed with that. He changed weekend plans just in case I had an emergency over the weekend, he didn't want to be away causing me to go to the ER again and not be admitted again.
He provided me with EXCELLENT care.

I am a long time gadtro patient. I see Dr. Perry Gould in Garden City. 516-248-3737. I am on a first name basis with him. Extremely good and great bedside manner.
I also see Dr. Daniel Present at Mt. Sinai. He is top of the line in his field and has seen everything. He doesn't take insurance and is expensive but I went to him for a second op. I was very impressed. Mt. Sinai is the #1 Gastro hospital in NY. I don't have his # off hand but you can look him up easily.
I hope he feels better and can get the care he needs.

My SIL recommened him to me and I use him now too - we both think he is great!!! I highly recommend him.

I used to work for the Cornell Weill Gastro group in Manhattan for five years...
Dr. Ira Jacobson is world renown in his field but does not take insurance and probably you would have to wait a long time to see him. I loved working for him.
Dr. Marc Pochapin--- he is now the Director of the Katie Couric center... Phenominal doctor and great person. I don't know if he sees regular patients anymore. I highly recommend him.
Dr. Christine Frissora-- fantastic doctor, doesn't take much insurance and when I worked there she was a very good friend of mine.. She did my colonoscopy a couple of years ago.
I will tell you 5 years go it was hard to get an appointment, I don't know how it is now..

Dr. Jack Soterakis (somebody mentioned him above) or Dr. Gina Kwak @ 310 East Shore Road in Great Neck. She is very thorough and extremely accommodating. Great doctor. She is affiliated with NSUH Manhasset.
