GD ladies...weight loss/gain question

I'm relatively new to this board, but I noticed a lot of GD posts lately! I wanted to ask you ladies a question... I was just wondering...have you lost weight since starting your meal plan? I have and I'm worried about it. The doctors say that it is fine, but I feel like since I'm pegnant, I should be gaining weight, not losing it. I eat every 2-3 hours and don't really feel hungry, so I guess I'm eating enough, I'm just worried. Is this happening to anyone else?Chat Icon

Re: GD ladies...weight loss/gain question

I lost 3lbs my first week on my GD diet when I was pregnant with DD.

After that, I maybe gained an additional 2lbs before DD was born.

Total weight gain for my pregnancy was 13lbs

Re: GD ladies...weight loss/gain question

When I first started my modified diet, I lost 2 pounds, that was at 24 weeks. I didn't gain any weight after that until 36 weeks. I'm now 38 weeks and have gained a total of 3 lbs since 24 weeks, total overall weight gain 16 lbs.

This is my exact story with DD.
I am now 29 pregnant with #2 and I haven't gained one pound. I am actually down three pounds from my first visit. My doctor isn't worried.
I still got GD with #2. I might as well as ate the Oreos Chat Icon

1st pregnancy, lost 7 lbs the 1st 4 weeks on diet and then stayed the same weight until I delivered. This pregnancy, I was diagnosed at like 14 or 15 weeks, I didn't gain any weight from week 16 until week 30; now at almost 37 weeks I'm up about 5lbs from what I was @ 16. I was overweight at the start of this pregnancy, though.

Re: GD ladies...weight loss/gain question

with my 1st pregnancy once i was diagnosed with the GD i only gained an additinal 4 lbs from when they diagnosed me at 25 weeks to when they induced me at 38 weeks...

With the second pregnancy i gained about 12 lbs from being diagnosed at 24 weeks to being induced at 39 weeks....but i also was retaining a huge amount of water...

I wouldn't worry about not gaining weight, your body is just redistributing the weight...The baby will take all the nutrients it needs.
