GD Question - Need Dinner Help!
Okay... So Monday nights suck! I stay at work late because we have our Childbirth class every Monday night at 7:30, so it doesn't pay for me to go home since class is like 4 buildings down from where I work.
I'm at a loss for what to do about dinner. There's not much around here that's good for a GD diet. So tell me, just how awful would it be to have Pizza for dinner? I've had more salad today than I care to admit, so I definately do not want a salad for dinner!
TIA!

Re: GD Question - Need Dinner Help!
In a pinch I would eat KFC. I would have a chicken breast with the skin removed, mashed potatoes and gravy, and the cornbread muffin and my numbers always stayed good.

I have GD and let me tell ya, if you want the pizza just get it!
It's ok to indulge in your carb cravings once in a while... yes I'm playing devil's advocate here but hell I've been indulging every so often and my baby is doing quite fine thank you! ;)

Thanks! I have this thing about eating fast food chicken! I'm actually at Atlanta Bread Co having a bowl of soup and 1/2 veggie sandwich. Best I can do around here.

Re: GD Question - Need Dinner Help!
From what I know, pizza is the worst possible food to eat with diabetes. The bottom crust plus the tomato sauce sends most peoples' numbers sky high, GD, type 1 or type 2. Try a chicken sandwich, even if it's fried.

Re: GD Question - Need Dinner Help!
white pizza. i was told you can get away with a slice, have as much salad as you can with it. don't do red sauce (its got alot of added sugar usually) so stick to white pizza. get veggies and meat on it. it will be fine. i've done pizza before, usually plain white slice (i hate veggies on pizza other than maybe onions) or i'll have sausage on it because i like that. (LOL) but one slice should be ok. and try to walk around an hour or so after eating it. (you can usually get your numbers down a bit with a little exercise after you eat... but don't try it right after, wait a little while until you've really started to digest the food...

Thanks again everyone! I did the soup and 1/2 sandwich thing. I think I'm going to have suck it up from now on and come home before going to class and eat at home. it sucks, but what else can I do with not alot of options around my office.

Re: GD Question - Need Dinner Help!
can you bring in leftovers? if not, you can have soups, chili, grilled chicken sandwich, etc... At a pizzaria, get an eggplant or chicken parm - no bread. that was my staple 'pizza place' food when I had GD.
