GEL MANI
got nails done Friday afternoon, its now Tuesday and 1 of my nails is already messed up. the polish peeled off.
should I go back and say something? DO you think they will re-do it for free? if they charge me, i do NOT want to go back there ( been going to them for 10 yrs for pedis) theres another place i would go to for gel thats less money and last 3-4 weeks.
anyone ever have this problem?

WHAT?!?!!?! With gel? I've NEVER heard of that before. I would be LIVID. I would go back and show them what happened, they should 100% fix for free. Gel mani should never chip or peel that fast.

Is it Foxy nails by any chance? they give great pedis but their gel manis peel in a couple days, my SIL went back and they charged her....

nope. place is on springfield blvd by Dozo. dont even know the name lol next to the post office.
the best place for Gel is on union tpke and 178th street. dont know the name but its a huge space and only $20 mon-wed mornings which works out well for me.
im just so annoyed because i hate taking time out for stupid shyt like this.
same for my hair!!! ive been going to the same person for 4 years. i sit in the chair tell her what i want and never ever had an issue. my last visit about 3 weeks ago, i told her i want her to dye my hair one color ( natural hair color ) and re-do caramel blonde highlights. she insisted on redoing the highlights and then dying whatever was left all at the same time. i left in a hurry, it looked fine.. i trusted her work. nex tday i left for vaca and noticed she did a shytty job. some blonde streaks had stripped like a tiger ( light blonde,brownetc) and the top ,of my head is SUPER light and the bottom is BLACK. all my pics look like shyt!! and she charged me $250! ( 100$ more than usual, but i was too embarrassed to say anything) i just figured the dye will settle in as i wash my hair and it wont be as dramatic.. well 3 weeks later and my hair still looks terrible.
i want to call her and tell her how unhappy i am and that i want to continue going to her if she fixes it. but i refuse to pay. is THIS a reasonable request?
i hate complaining and usually just switch salons but i like her work. i always get compliments on my hair, but the compliments have stopped since the last time i went to her.

Happened to me both times I had gel. One time it actually started chipping the next day.
The peeling/chipping ruined my nails for months. I'll never get gel again.
Two different salons.

I found out that it depends on the brand of gel polish used. Some brans just stay longer then others.

They must have done something wrong for it to peel off that quickly.
You pay more money for gel, that's BS.
They better fix it for free.

As for your hair- Yes! Call her. Tell her you are unhappy and want it fixed. A reputable salon will always fix something they did wrong or you are not happy with.
I suffered too long with bad hair because I was too nice to say anything. No more.
You pay good money- you deserve to be 100% happy.
I actually broke up with my hair girl over this and now I am SOOOO much happier with my hair.

it's happened to me a few times. I will only get it done at certain places. It's def the bran they use and how they do it. 1 place I didn't go in and out of the uv dryer and that's the one that chipped.

Yes, I'd call. I had highlights done time and didn't get toner. I was in a rush. My hair girl you need toner. I said no its okay, paid and left. The next morning I freaked, called her and told I think I need toner. She said no problem, did it and did not charge me. It's not worth losing a client over unhappy hair. She's known you for 4 years, I doubt she would charge you again. I would tell her that you aren't happy with your hair and she needs to fix it, but at $250, you can't pay another dollar.

I get that but $250 is a lot to spend to not be happy!! Call them and have them fix it

Is there a difference between gel and shellac? I've had gel peel off but gotten cand shellac and had better luck with that

I get gel every two weeks and I've never had that problem. I would definitely go back and have them fix it - the whole point of the gel is so that doesn't happen.
A co-worker of mine had a similar issue on Monday. She went back after work and they fixed it no charge.

I agree. I was the same way. It gets personal with your hair stylist and you feel like you are hurting their feelings if you complain or even go to someone new. But then I realized that I was paying a LOT of money and was NEVER happy. When it got to the point that my hair was actually starting to break off from the damage of her over agressive bleaching, it was my last straw. I broke up with her.
I still feel bad because she is such a nice person, but I was tired of paying an arm and a leg to not only be unhappy but have my hair consistently destroyed.
As personal as the relationship with your hair stylist feels, it's really business at the end of the day.

this is the 1st time ive been unhappy. im going to wait to get a tan and maybe itll look better. i also dont feel like sitting in a chair for 2+ hrs again. next time i go back to her i will tell her i was unhappy. i just hate complaining because when nothing is done, i end up feeling worse
( happened to me with a credit card/customer service situation last night. i ended up having a small anxiety attack, barely slept.. im too sensitive)

TBH I think this is like the 1st gel that ever came out and it is horrible. I used to use it and it always peeled and RUINED my nails.
