Gender Instincts: were you influenced by others?
Ever since I found out I was pg, I have thought but I wonder if we allow our thoughts to be influenced by what others say. I was so fear-stricken when I got the BFP that I kind of forgot my first thoughts.
Anybody else think your instinctual thoughts have been blurred?

I am not sure that I believe in "Gender Instincts". Your thought process is going to be influenced by what you want, what others say etc.
I know many people who were "right" about their instinct and many people who were "wrong". Your odds are 50/50 anyway so about half of the people are going to be correct as to their predictions.

We both of course want a healthy baby, however we preferred a for our first, but I always felt it was . Everyone told us I looked like I was carrying a , but I was right!! We are having a and I'm sooo excited!!!

Re: Gender Instincts: were you influenced by others?
I honestly was not influenced by anyone around us, nor by my own personal gender preference. I can see how that might be true, however. DH and I always said we would prefer a boy for our firstborn... but yet I felt like I was having a girl from the minute those 2 lines showed up on the HPT -- I have no idea why, I just had this feeling (or so I thought..)
Then everyone else close to me started telling me they thought I was carrying a girl as well (and this was without me actually saying that I felt "girl" vibes too)
What started convincing me of it was when I'd have the baby's heartrate checked at the OB's office.. the heartrate was consistently HIGH and the nurses kept saying "this is indicative of a girl... "
Now you know why I nearly fell off the table at my Level 2 when they said "its def. a boy"

From day one everyone from family to strangers said it was a , so I started to believe it myself, so we were shocked to find out I'm having a - and we could'nt be happier

Re: Gender Instincts: were you influenced by others?
Everyone and I mean about 98% percent of people that commented on how i was carrying - thought i was carrying a boy.
DH and one friend commented and thought it was a girl - I was convinced it would be a boy because of everyone elses comments and b/c I was all belly - - well - everyone was surprised February 23rd - when I delivered a girl. It was really a surprise for everyone and i enjoyed the guessing game since we didn't know the gender.
I always wanted a girl anyway - and DH was especially happy because he knew I would of wanted to keep trying until I got my girl. Well - now i did - but now I would also love a little boy! DH is in trouble!

Re: Gender Instincts: were you influenced by others?
My first instinct was girl, but I told everyone boy. I would smile to myself & think "I know you're a girl" with my hand on my belly. My DH thought boy, but told everyone girl because he didn't really wanted a boy & didn't want to hear I told you so. Five years later, I still can't believe my gut was wrong but am thrilled with what I have.
For the second time, I thought girl because I was so much sicker than the last one. At least I got one right.

Re: Gender Instincts: were you influenced by others?
I thought and everyone around me was saying girl. Very few people said and we are havign a . But, I was buying some things, all with blue in them. DH said that maybe I felt girl because that's what everyone kept saying.

I thought from the get-go that I was having a boy. EVERYONE told me it was a girl.. and they were all wrong. I just had a feeling deep down that I was right and I was!

no,. stuck to my guns. Thought it was a girl and she was :D As for this one. I initially thought boy right away, but am now leaning towards girl.

We were both sure I was having a boy( I really wanted a daughter first) and were shocked when we found out it was a girl.
