Generators getting stolen?
DH just went to go pay our rent and our landlord was telling us that someone she knows who was under mandatory evacuation got their home broken into, trashed and had their stuff stolen during the evacuation and that another lady she knows is on a respirator and was given an emergency generator for it and some jerk stole it.
What is wrong with people!? Who raises their children to act like this?

My step father is a suffolk cop, he said during the evacs TONS of houses that were empty were robbed. He said its a criminals wet dream.

Unfortunatelly it will endanger people even more comes another storm. They won't obey any evacuation to protect themselves from robbery.

Dh's cousin lives right on a canal and were mandatorily evacuated but refused to leave when the police knocked on their door. They were scared that their house would get looted as were his aunt and uncle who live on the next road over. thankfully the water never rose to by the houses

We leave our poland spring water on our front pitch. Its covered and hidden from the street.
We were at the hospital over the weekend and we had 20 gallons stolen!!! Seriously people? I should have put them in the garage, but I figured they weren't going to blow away.
Granted it wasnt a lot of money, but I thought it was so scummy.

We were Zone B in Queens and not sure if we would be evacuated. While I was packing up supplies for me and DD - DH was preparing for battle. He swore he wouldn't leave with us and he had a bat ready by the front door!!! I thought he was nuts, but I guess not!

They were talking about it on the news this morning.
Someone in NJ that was flooded put a sign on his front door that said:
