Stolen from TTC- Did you do everything in life that you wanted to do before getting PG??

I'll go first- DEF NOT!! But I've always wanted to be a Mommy, so I guess the sacrifices start now!

We've had quite an ongoing health scare with my mother which made us realize how quickly your life can change and how precious it is. We figured life is way too short too make sure we accomplished all that we wanted to before starting a family! We don't know what tomorrow will bring and in the end family is really all that matters!!

Here are some of the things I would've liked to have done before starting a family in an ideal world:
*own a home
*vacationed in Italy, Amsterdam, Greece and Hawaii
*been settled in NC already, now we are moving to a new apartment in NY this month to only pack up again and move to NC this summer

Done it all, not one regret here. We have been married a long time before this child came along. In that time, we have accomplished all our PreChild goals/dreams/desires (own our home, have extra $ in the bank, have our education, degrees, accomplished career goals, taken trips, tried new restaurants, concerts, etc, etc). And we also are thrilled to have pets that make our home a happy one.

Having a child was the only thing we wanted that we did not get to have until now and we are so glad that day is almost here. It can't come fast enough.

Good question. I will have to say no. I wish I was more mature. Not that I am immature, but I always thought I would be very mature when i had a baby: really be great with sticking to schedules, cleaning the house, exercising, cooking and eating right. I am ok with those things, but I fall off the wagon too much. I wish I owned a house too.

i'd love to own a home but a baby is more important - my biological clock is ticking faster than my back account is growing LOL

i feel that our life will be enhanced by having a baby. There is NO reason we won't travel, we will simply bring the baby/child wherever we go. We're not a couple who does a lot of 'staying home' and that will not change. It will simply mean we have an adorable baby/child to bring with us places...

we actually frequently talk about our child when they get back from summer vacation and ask him/her what they did....our child will have like 80 things they can list!

we'd own a house - that's all i'd change...

Having a Baby is everything to me. There are things that I wish were different, like....owning a home, more money (I know can never have enough).
But, I felt like my age played a very big part in us ttc. I didn't know how long it would take us, but thankfully it happened on the first try.

Nothing is ever perfect, I'm just overjoyed that i'm going to be a mommy.

Not really! One big thing we wanted to do before having a baby was buy a home. Also, I would of liked more money in the bank.
Things we did accomplish before the baby was education and good jobs. Many vacations, including Europe which was my DH only request. Also, we where married 2 years before BFP, which was a good amount of time.

I don't think one can do "everything" before a certain time in life. However I've done a lot of things I wanted and I was ready to be a mom a few years ago. So no regrets here!!

Not really - I would have liked to own a house and travel more but we wouldn't be traveling anyway because we'd be saving for the house. I have no regrets...this was very planned.

absolutely not. I started having children very young. However, i havent totallly put my life on hold, i still do as much as i can, just with the kids. DH and I will do our adult only traveling and such when the kids are older. the good thing about starting young, is we will still be young enough to do cool things when the kids are older.

Not much because this was a planned pregnancy and very much wanted. We bought our house before the reversal and that was the big thing we needed to do for us to "feel" ready. If I could do one more thing it would be to have saved more money, but after the holidays we'll start saving up again and moving our money to better accounts for us.

hmmm, not too much.

I wish DH had a permanent job (although he works full time, he's subbing, not permanent).

Besides that, I think we're good to go. I really wanted a family

Yes, we were pretty much "done"! But we are both 37, already own a home, settled in NC, doing OK financially, and traveled to Europe. If you had asked this 10 years ago, I would have said no.

Yes! We were married 4 years, traveled extensively, I finished my doctorate last spring (wouldn't even consider TTC until I had graduated), have money saved for a house...I also bought a new car that I wanted before we had a baby....All we need to do is FIND a house we want, but everything else is accomplished! I also have a job/career I love, that hopefully will be flexible once is here!

I would say the biggest thing would be a house. I really wanted to have a house before starting a family but oh well, no regrets!!!! I did get to go to Italy last year so thats one thing off my list!!!

I sure did-DH and I been dating for 10 years before we got married, we travelled, we own our home, drive nice cars,to me our DD completed us.

the ONLY thing that I can think of is that we always wanted to do two weeks in Italy and never got around doing it, DH was planning on doing it if we wern't pregnant by the summer, I got PG in March/April so that went out the window considering I felt like a truck hit me during the summer months!!!! But Italy isn't going anywhere and we'll definitely go soon

We're huuuge travelers, and Italy was one place we never ended up at...so I'm really happy with where we've been...just wanted to add that...

I think we've done the major things we wanted to do before getting PG -

I don't really have this idea that now that I am going to be a parent I 'can't' do anything anymore ........obviously priorities change, but I can still live my life ! -

DH and I LOVE to travel - DC will have MANY MANY people we can trust who are willing to babysit - We'll still do the things we want to, our trips will just be spread out more ........

The only thing I wanted to do (that I still CAN, it will just be that much more difficult) is go to Law School .......

Probably not, but if we had waited to do "everything," we never would have been ready.

I did have a list of everything I wanted to do before baby and did everything on that list - bought the house, finished grad school, had a list of countries i wanted to travel to. After going to Egypt, Dubai, India, and Greece/Turkey, I thought I hit all my countries. Now I wished I had added South Africa and Peru to that list. You keep wanting to add to that list. I don't think it's possible to do everything.

I never had a plan of things I wanted to do before having children. I am 34 so I have had adult time w/o children; I own a home, am established in my career - I haven't done a ton of traveling but I am really content on where I am and can't think of anything I should have put the baby off for.

We can still do everything we want to do regardless if we have a baby or not.

Having a house wasn't important to us but we happen to have one before DS was born.

Traveling is still being done and will continue to be done with or without our DC.

Having children has not and will not stop us from doing anything

There is no way I can do ALL the things I would love to do in my lifetime. Before or after babies. I try to do things I like/can do. I don't want to worry about things I miss in my life. I am thankful for what I have but never thought my life was over now that I have DS and another baby on the way.
