generic for celexa

Posting under a fake name as I am little uncomfortable with the whole idea that I am now taking an antdepressant. I just started 10mg of the generic for Celexa on Sunday. My dr said to move up in a week to 20mg but I am finding myself sleepy just on the 10mg. Is this a normal side effect? I kind of feel a little in a fog but now just sleepy. Not sure if that is just from not sleeping good or the meds and will this go away? I need to work and drive, etc and am nervous about new medication.Any feedback would be great. Thank you.

I have been on it for 2.5 years. I started taking it on a Sat. and felt that way for 2 days then I was fine. Your body needs time to adjust. It is listed that drowsiness is a side effect. Good Luck.

Thank you for the feedback. I noticed it seems to hit me worse on the train ride to and from work. almost as if I have motion sickness.

Re: generic for celexa

I've been on a number of anti-depressants over the years and yes, your body may take some time to get used to it. If you are still having problems within a week or so, I'd speak to your doctor.

Re: generic for celexa

I was on Celexa for 3 days, and it was horrible for me. I was SO dizzy and actually wound up calling out of work (I'm a teacher so I need to be ON) because I felt so miserable. As soon as I stopped taking it, I felt better. My Dr. switched me to Paxil, and it's been much better.

Re: generic for celexa

not a fan of celexa either. i had to take it first thing in the morning, or i couldn't sleep. i would talk to your dr, there are better meds out there, celexa stunk for me.
didn't work at all....but again, depends on what you need it for.
