Getting dog spayed...
I called the vet who helped us when we saved the new dog to make the appt for spaying, and they told me it was going to be $275 , so a friend of mine suggested I go to Kent Shelter since the $$ goes to the shelter and I called them and its only $85.00. I feel bad "shopping around" but I think $275 for a dog that weighs less than 9lbs is ridiculous. Now I have to get my dogs their shots, any ideas on where to go?

Our vet charges $250, but I trust him and I want her in the best care possible since she has to stay over night and be put under anesthetics.

Re: Getting dog spayed...
ask your vet the difference between the expensive procedure and the one at the animal shelter. i know that when we had oscar neutered, we asked and then decided to spend more and go with our vet.

Kent is an inexpensive place. You can also try the SPCA-http://www.suffolkspca.org/Clinics.htm

our vet charges $125...the local humane society charges a little less, but I trust our vet.

As Hanna said...FriendsofAnimals.org has participating vets where, you purchase the spay certificate from them and take it a local vet (your vet may participate already) and the only additional charge is for meds for when the dog comes home. Here is the pricing for Spay/Neuter Certificates from them...
Spay/Neuter Certificates and Costs Certificate Cost Female Cat Spay $65.00 Male Cat Neuter $51.00 Female Dog Spay $90.00 Male Dog Neuter $64.00

Re: Getting dog spayed...
We had one of our dogs as North Shore. They did a good job and she was just fine. The only thing is that you drop them off and pick them up the same day so when we got her she was really groggy until later that night.

Same with my Sammy. I think it was like $130 for neuter, microchip and some pain meds.
