getting DS into a napping routine (a bit long)

DS is 2 months... he is JUST starting to come out of his "fog" where he sleeps all day... he still has his days of sleeping all day, but for the most part, he is up and awake most of the day now

i've been trying to get him into a napping routine, but im not sure how sucessful i'm being lol

he is usually up for the day after his 1st morning bottle -- around 8/830.... then i'll change him into clothes for the day & do some morning cleaning with him hanging out in his bouncy chair

when im done, i'll put him on his play mat for tummy time & whatnot... then he'll usually fall asleep after he's been awake for about 2 hours or so

he'll wake up for his next bottle & i'll try to do the same thing all over again & he'll fall back asleep around 3/4 -- so i've been treating that as his nap #2

then DH will come home around 5/6 & he'll play with daddy for a while... then he'll get another bottle & will sometimes fall asleep again until his bath around 9/930

any advice on what BTDT moms have done at this age for naps... or if i'm totally jumping the gun with trying to get DS to nap, thats fine too lol

My DS is the same age and IMO I let him nap whenever he needs to and we don't have a routine when it comes to napping. I have to say that sometimes he naps late and I hate it because I feel like he will be up all night, but I don't disrupt him.

I only focus on a night routine right now with bath, bottle and up in bed by 9-9:30.

I am not a BTDT but it sounds like you have a great routine going!

He will get there, we had the same problem. How many ounces a day does he take? I have noticed that the more he eats during the day, the longer he goes at night. DS gets to bed around 9-9:30 and he will only get up once around 4am to eat and then back again till 7:30 or so. If we put him up later in the night, he will sleep straight though but DH and I like bringing him up early so we have alone time before we go to bed.

Before he was put on med's for his acid reflux issues, he was only eating max 3 1/2 - 4oz at a time, up every 3 hours also and now he is taking at least 5, sometimes 6oz at every bottle so during the day he is filling up and not needing to get up at night.

The best rule I had when my DD was at this age was for her to nap EVERY TWO HOURS of daytime wakefulness.

DS eats the same -- 3 1/2-4oz... tomorrow will be a week since hes been on the meds... i have def seen a difference, but he still cries & pulls away from his bottles sometimes... i know a lot of ladies on here said it took them a week or so to see a complete change... so im hoping come tomorrow or the end of the week, hes a new baby! lol

ITA! DD fell into this routine on her own!

8AM wake up, bottle, bath, (I pump) another bottle.

10AM morning nap

1PM wake up, bottle, hang out do whatever, another bottle

3PM afternoon nap

5PM wake up bottle hang out do whatever

7PM start bedtime routine

8PM sleep!
