getting home ready for market
OK so im trying to get my home ready to be on the market. My question is- ppl keep saying the less pics of your family the better. So two places in my home where I have pics that I don't want to take down. I enjoy seeing them each day lol other then that we just have art work up.. Would you take down the family pics anyway??? I attached the pictures I am talking about.... Image Attachment(s):

getting home ready for market
Thinking back, I don't think there were any family pictures in the homes we looked at, but I think most of them were vacant anyway.
I wouldn't mind these pictures if I was a prospective buyer.

Re: getting home ready for market
This would not bother me in the least bit. I actually like feeling the house is a loving family home.

thanks! that's how I feel to, like they make it more of a home not just a house. But some have told me that sometimes having family pics of makes it hardier for potential buyers to "see themselves" there , LOL I don't know but im thinking these two spots are staying the way they are..

Re: getting home ready for market
I personally like the pictures that hang in a home it shows there was life there and love. Also some people lack vision when there look at homes that have bare walls I know some agents say take down pictures but to me this is not clutter and should remain because until it's sold it's still your home. When i sold my house I kept the pictures up and guess what it still sold.
BTW if your looking for a good honest agent I used Tony Ribisi from Coach Realtors very nice guy and super helpful. I beleive this is his number 1-631-942-5448
Have a great day.

Re: getting home ready for market
looks like im in the minority here, but i would take them down for 2 reasons.
1. i have always heard that it's harder for people to see themselves in the house if its already personalized....plus, it can be a bit distracting to the buyer. does it matter who the seller is? what their family looks like? it shouldnt...
2. i tend to be a pretty private person, and i just didnt feel comfortable with strangers knowing what i looked like and being in my home....when i had no idea who they were (this is also assuming, you will not be home for all showings/open houses)
i had a lot of extra wall decor from a previous house that i never used in my current place. so when we put our home on the market, i just swapped the personal pics for the standard wall decor (mirrors, frames, metal art, etc.)
good luck!

This is how I feel too. It makes me thinlk, "whoever lives here looks like they have a wonderful life and family. I want that too." I have more of a problem visioning myself in a home with no family touches.

It's so funny that everyone recommends taking your clutter & personal stuff away. We looked at over 30 houses in person and none of them took their personal photos or clutter down. It didn't deter us at all.

As much as people say that I feel like subconsciously it affects how people view a house. If everyone consciously knew they would look past it.
I don't think the pictures the OP have up are bad
I've seen a lot worse
