Getting jeans hemmed
Anyone have someone good they've used either in the Northport/Smithtown/Commack/Huntington area or East Meadow/Garden City area?
I bought a pair of Levis that are "M" length that are about 4 inches longer than another pair I hvae (which are actually a hair too short). So annoying!! I wish womens pants/jeans came in the variety of inseams that mens do for everything ...

Re: Getting jeans hemmed
I always go to my dry cleaner to get pants hemmed. Maybe you can try your local cleaners. they should be able to do it for you.
and I totally agree with you on the pants lenght!! they should come in lengths just like mens pants!!

Re: Getting jeans hemmed
I've changed dry cleaners so many times because either DH is picky - don't ask!! I've also had a few different dry cleaners hem dress pants and I've never been thrilled with the result for how much it costs so I'm hesitant to let them do jeans.

I dont have a place for you...just wanted to agree with this!!
SO TRUE! All women wearing a certain size DO NOT have the same length legs.
Just a way to make us spend more $$$$!

Re: Getting jeans hemmed
I agree!! I always tell DH that I am going to start a jeans store and make waist and lengths like men's jeans!!
Sorry, not all size 8's have a 32" inseam. I feel like my legs are floundering in there!!!

Re: Getting jeans hemmed
National Jean company,
I just dropped off my jeans there needed about 5 inches off the bottom. They do the re-attachment too. It cost me $6. Not sure if it's more if you didn't buy them there.

Re: Getting jeans hemmed
In Syosset on Jericho Tpke there is a dry cleaner in Muttontown Plaza right next to the Ford Dealership... It's Andrew Howard Cleaners. They do an AMAZING re-attachment of your original hem to the jeans. I brought my Citizens there and honestly, I wouldn't trust anyone else to do as good a job!

I still don't even comprehend the hem reattachment but thanks for the recommendation! I'll look into it!!

I didn't get it either, until I went there! They take off the original hem at the bottom of your jean (b/c it is "distressed" and part of why the jeans are so $$$) and then they sew it onto the bottom of the jean after they shorten them!
You can't even tell they were hemmed because the original bottom is attached to the jean!
It might be a little pricey, but in my opinion, when I was already spending $180 on jeans, I wanted the hem to look right!!! (sorry - I am a little psycho about jeans)!
Good luck!!!

Re: Getting jeans hemmed
I go to Daisy Fresh (or something like that) on Commack Rd near the Ruby Tuesday sign. It cost $12 and they will hem them in a way that they keep the original bottom. They fold it up somehow.
