DD drinks juice out of her sippy cup but when i put milk in it she ownt' drink the whole thing. If the milk is in the bottle she will down all 6oz...in the cup...maybe 1oz. is it okay that she is getting less milk??? how do i get her to drink more milk?? she really LOVES her bottleChat Icon

She will drink it if she realizes she won't get the bottle back.

Also, if she eats cheese or yogurt, those are good sources of calcuim as wellChat Icon

Plus milk isn't like form or bm, it isn't the only nutrition she is getting, so if she doesn't drinks so much, its not the end of the world, KWIM?Chat Icon

she needs 16-24 ozs of milk a day.

I would skip giving juice until she starts to drink enough milk. There is no reason for juice, milk is way more important.

Ask the dr. They will tell you if it is more important to get rid of the bottle or to have her drink more milk. I was told 12 oz minimum.

I agree with this. My Dr. said there is no nutritional value in juice and to only give DD milk and water. She will eventually drink it if its all she gets. We just saw the Dr for DD's 1 year appt this week so we are finishing up our formula before ditching the bottle. Probably one more week. She uses a sippy for water now.

why are you getting rid of the bottle? If DD loves her bottle than why not let her keep drinking out of it? Isn't she about the same age as my DD...a year ? I didn't think we had to get them off the bottle just yet! At least that there wasn't a rush to do so.

Some pediatricians recommend it. I believe because of their teeth. I think. Chat Icon
