Re: Getting the full 12 weeks of leave

I do not live in NY but I get, through my disability company:

week 1 - PTO (if you have enough time, this is paid at 100%)

week 2-8 - Disability (3 weeks at 100% pay, 4 weeks at 80% pay)

weeks 9-12 - paid at 100% from my job directly

weeks 13-16 - unpaid time off

I fall into the 3-6 year category so that should be 9 weeks at full salary.

H/r is giving me different info, meanwhile a copy of this policy was included in the maternity packet they gave me.

I would agree with you except that your doctor/STD administrator has to approve you to be out for the full 9 weeks in order for you to get paid. So if everyone above is right in saying 6 weeks for vaginal / 8 weeks for CS than that is the most you would get paid under STD.

I have the same policy as you except years of service and weeks paid are a bit different. I guess it all doesn't matter when giving birth because the guidelines are 6 weeks or 8 weeks. Total BS!

ahhh...see thats what i thought..that it had to be approved by the STD company/administrator based on what my dr. sends them. hhhmmm...maybe if i give my dr. a really nice gift she will do that..LOL

i have to say though that this is pretty s**&& coverage im reading about from everyone's jobs (mine included). I cant believe with the # of women in the workforce this is the best companies can offer. sheessh...

Seriously- my company has a subsidiary in Sweden. The women get 2 years paid for maternity leave and the men get 18 months paid for paternity leave- and they can take it over time. All paid by the government! SICK! All our government gives us is 12 weeks NOT PAID! Although they do pay ridiculous taxes in Sweden but their quality of life is so much better.
