Getting the house ready/clean
Yesterday we were at a friend's house, helping her paint...it was a townhouse, but I was thinking of how clean it is, etc
So I look at our house today...I see every little ding now, every little scratch, every little piece of dog hair that misses the vacuum...
We have a bigger house, and two big dogs...and its impossible to keep up w/the cleaning...or at least its seems that way...and now being pregnant, it seems harder to do stuff, and its getting me depressed
We are trying to be better at cleaning more often, but sometimes its so hard...DH works one full time and one part time job, I'm a full time grad (PhD) student...and our dogs are like two big babies who need care for too
I want to be better, especially when baby arrives and try and keep these habits when baby is here --its really hard
I just need to vent

Re: Getting the house ready/clean
It is hard. I only have one cat,, but, I hear you on the "Keeping up with it". My DS is 2, I babysit during the week and try my best. Everytime I go in the basement I want to cry. I am thinking the laundry is caught up and realize, Im not even close. Im also tired! I do vacuum the kitchen, den everyday and DH has been good with vacuuming upstairs a few times a week, but, before this baby comes, we need a HEAVY cleaning! Im soooo tempted just to hire someone to come in one time only and just spend hours here and do it all. Thats a dream! I just do the best I can and try not to stress over it.

Re: Getting the house ready/clean
thanks
Maybe I can ask for a maid service as my 30th b-day present? Its before my DD! It sounds cheesy, but a maid service, even if its once or twice, would be awesome!

Re: Getting the house ready/clean
We both work full time and have 2 cats. We have a maid service that sends us someone every other Monday. It really helps with the deep cleaning that we just don't have time for and especially with all the cat hair everywhere!! I would absolutely prefer to do it myself, I just don't have the time to do it yet so in the meanwhile it is a good solution for us, seems like it may work for you too!

On the plus side, you probably have a lot less chemicals in the air at your house. It usually takes a lot of poisonous chemicals to keep a house "clean". I'd rather have dust than fumes....
Studies have shown that dogs (and dog hair) may help prevent pet allergies later in life.

Re: Getting the house ready/clean
I totally understand what you are saying about depression and mess.. I have to admit I am not a cleaner.. I dont mind straightening up and wiping down but that scrubbing the bathroooms and getting into corners is not my thing.. I have someone come every 2 wks for that.. I fight w/dh he thinks its a waste but I need her and I do without other things just to have her.. She will do anything I need for that day.. Is there anyway you can make that happen? I sware its worth not going out to dinner for.. I think I would be more depressed if i had to do it.. I use most green works products so the fumes and chemicals are minimal..

Re: Getting the house ready/clean
This is my biggest stressor right now. My dog sheds constantly and the amount of dust and fur that gets into every nook and cranny freaks me out. I am lucky I can surface clean being 9 months pregnant. I was just freaking about this this morning to DH. A cleaning person is just not in the budget right now.

I love that, rather having dust than fumes
I will try to convince myself that next time I'm feeling down
Just an overall BOOOOO to dog hair though....yep, its sucks
