Getting up and down off the floor

Hey girls!

I am 16 weeks today (!) and thinking about telling work finally. I am trying to figure out what to tell them as far as how long I expect to be able to work, how long I will be out, etc.

Here's my question:
I work with young children and the majority of my time with them is spent sitting on the floor, usually for 2-3hrs at a time. How long can I expect to be able to get up and down from the floor by myself? Also, once I'm sitting on the floor, is it going to be possible to sit there for 2-3 hrs at a stretch? I am trying to figure out how long I am going to be able to continue doing my job in the capacity that I do now without making any adjustments.

TIA!

Re: Getting up and down off the floor

I go to the gym 4-5 mornings a week and I still get on and off the floor all the time (you just have to move a little slower... yesterday I went down to do some push-ups and ended up getting light headed and seeing stars...). I'm 26 weeks this week. I expect to be doing the same thing until at least 30 weeks, if not all the way til the end.

As far as staying seated on the floor for a long period of time, can you sit on a mat or pillows? I think that would help a LOT! Otherwise, can you sit on a small stool or low seat?

You've still got a while to go, but since you do this every day, I think you'll be fine for a long time yet.

Re: Getting up and down off the floor

I didn't spend such long stretches on the floor, but having a toddler at home who loves to play with things on the floor, I spent a RIDICULOUS amount of time each day on the floor, and getting up/down from the floor. Even at 41 weeks I was getting up & down fine, and the sitting was fine too....it probably wasn't a pretty sight to see me getting up/down at that point (and DD would help me get up sometimes Chat Icon ) but it was fine....just took a few seconds longer Chat Icon

I agree, if you'll be on the floor for that long at a time, I'd have a pillow, mat, etc.
