Getting your hair done at someone's home...

I recently started getting my hair cut/colored, etc. at someone's home salon.

I've heard different opinions from different people, and wanted to throw out the question to all of you...

Do you tip someone if it's in their home, since there is no overhead, or do you tip them on top of the cost?

I am getting the Keratin treatment and a cut this weekend, and while it's cheaper than at the salon, it's not cheap in general. I would assume the price she gave me is way over the price of the products she is using.

Any thoughts?
Thanks!

I go to a friend out of her house and I definetly tip. It is still a service so I think a small tip is the right thing to do

My sister is a hairdresser and does a few select people in their home or out of her home. They tip her... and you should tip. She has to buy all of the colors and supplies herself for what she's doing.

I know a group of girls who get their hair done at someone's house, and they recently brought me a long. none of them tip, so i did not either.

I used to get my hair done a long time ago w/ my family at someone's house, and she actually never even charged us, so there of course we gave a tip.

I get my hair cut/colored at someone's home salon - she charges such a low price (compared to a salon) that i do tip her.
If she charged me the same price as a salon, i probably wouldn't

I have been going to my hairdresses home for years and I do not tip. The money goes straight to her. When she worked in the salon yes I always did tip b/c only half the money for the service went to her. Yes she still has to pay for product but as far as I know you do not tip owners (I used to anyhow) or ppl that do service out of their homes! JMO
