Gift for realtor? Tips for movers, delivery men?
This may be a silly question but I was wondering if I'm supposed to get a gift for my real estate agent? I'm a first time homebuyer & I don't know if I'm supposed to give him something or tip him or what.
Also, I'm hiring movers just to move the big things and some furniture, maybe a 2 hour job at most. What should I tip them? What about the appliance, furniture delivery men?

isnt your real estate agent getting $$ from you?? I wouldnt give a gift.. only if you REALLY want to and you REALLY like the agent.

If I remember correctly, I think my REA gave us a gift- a potted plant....
We did tip the movers- maybe $100 between 3 of them. For just two hours, I think I would lean towards $20 each.

I absolutely loved our real estate agent, but at the end of the day she made a nice commission off our purchase. I didn't give her anything.

Your Real Estate Agent should really give you a gift and not vice versa. She/he makes Commission on the sale, which is more then enough.
I would tip the movers and any service related delivery, but only if you feel it is deserved.

We got a gift form our agent. He gave us 2 bottles of champagne to go celebrate with. Too bad I was preggo at the time.

don't count on the movers only being there for 2 hours - esp if they are getting paid by the hour
if they actually do the job in 2 hours- FM there info
I normally tip the movers $20 each

our agent & mortgage broker has gotten our baby gifts. She's getting a commission, so I don't think we'll get her anything.

Our agent gave us a real nice gift card to use on our house when we closed. We thought it was thoughtful.
We would tip the delivery or movers about $20 or so depending on service.

i love my RE broker so much that DH and I were thinking of getting her a GPS...she needs one. she did a great job for me! like above and beyond.
