The watches are all Citizen Eco-Drive. They never need a battery.
The recipients are
1- NYPD officer in Jamaica, 25
2- FDNY in Flushing, 24
3- My 17 yr old brother
I feel like the metal band is "younger", but the leather is classic. None of the guys will be able to wear the watch everyday - it'll be more of a "date/dress up/wedding/funeral" thing.
Price isn't a huge factor - they're pretty much in the same range.

i think #1 is the best by far and also the most elegant.
(not many people wear tie tacks- i work with very well dressed men and i dont think ive ever seen one - so it may not get alot of use)

I like 3 or 4. My brother's NYPD and my DH works on Wall Street and neither one would ever use the tie tack.

I voted for #4, but I like #3 as well. IMO they metal/steel band is a) more durable and b) better for every occassion, they can where it everyday and to events.

If I listen to them and get metal, I'm leaning towards #4, and #3 second.
This isn't easy!

I like metal bands better. I think it is a little dressier. I bought DH one years ago & he wears it to work as well as to dressier occasions. I never thoguth of it as "younger" though--maybe because my father always more a metal watch band. They also hold up better-Leather bands need to be replaced. (Well, maybe not if they don't wear it everyday)
Of those, I agree with you, I like 4 little moree than 3.
If you are going with leather, I like 1 more than 2.

I like the metal bands - I think they are nicer looking. I chose #4, because I like the face of it better, but #3 is nice too.
And I agree with most of the other posters - I know very few guys who wear tie tacks and I don't think I have ever seen a younger guy wear one. My dad was NYPD then FDNY and I think he only wore ties to weddings, funerals and graduations.

i prefer #1.... but for ME. for a guy i choose #3. its great. i like the face on it much better then that of #4.

since it will be a "fancy wear only" (lol) watch anyway- i would go with the metal... i like the look.
i like #4 the best

I agree-many people would feel its not dressy enough I think. I would go with 3 I like the pattern on the face
