Gift Ideas Needed! 1st Birthday Boy .. (updated with gift purchased)

Hello ladies!

I could really use your help once again for a gift idea.

My cousin's son's 1st birthday is this weekend.

I'm at a bit of a loss for a present this time around ... so many toys take up a lot of space, which is 1 thing they really don't have.

They live in a 1 bedroom in Manhattan.

They spend time at parks and such but obviously storage space is pretty limited.

Any fun ideas???

I'd happily go reasonably high in price, the mom & I were bridesmaids in eachothers weddings ... she's my "favorite cousin" out of 60+ cousins

Hey Jess how do you liike this, I got it for DH's birthday so he can tote DS around. It's holds up to 40lbs, the pack only weighs 6.5 lbs... and it folds down (we store ours under the crib so it's out of the way)... This could be fun for days out around the city. It's the Chicco - Smart Support Backpack Baby Carrier; walmart has 'em, just google that for some price comparisons (ours was 89.99)

Puzzles, books and membership to the zoos. We used our membership to the zoo so many times while we lived in Manhattan, well worth it!

I love the idea of the museum or zoo passes but I got word that they might have gotten an offer on their co-op so they may be moving out of the city sooner rather than later.

Colette, that seems like an AWESOME gift but the mom has a pretty bad back & had surgery so I was kinda iffy on that as a gift for them.

This is what I ended up getting, I hope they like it!
