Does he have a game boy or other electronic game?
There are also science based games at toys r us. That could be kind of cool? Like a build a dinosaur or volcano.

Thank you all, these are great suggestions!
Now here's the irony... I spoke to my sister and when she asked my nephew what he wanted, he said a baseball bat!!!
So here I am, looking for the best gift that will stimulate his curiosity and the boy wants a darn baseball bat!!!
