Gifting your kitchen designer?
We've been working with a kitchen designer for a few weeks and finally settled on a layout and signed the papers on our cabinet order today. Yay!!
My question is, I feel like I want to get the KD something (like a GC to a restaurant and a bottle of wine), is this totally silly or is it common?
I know he's making money off my order, but I still feel like I should give him a little thank you. I've been all over the world with my design plans and requests. Adding a bathroom, not adding a bathroom, doing a 48" range, doing a double wall oven instead, doing cherry, nope doing maple... 15 design plans later, I'm finally at peace with the layout and the details. And initially this KD was coming in way over our budget, but he really worked with us and we ended up getting exactly what we want at the price we were hoping for.
Is this all par for the course or did he go above and beyond?

Re: Tipping your kitchen designer?
from what you are saying, I don't believe he went above and beyond. its his job and its a big decision. Kitchen and bath designers deal with this all the time. its actually par for the course.
But, its always nice to show your appreciation. I wouldn't "tip" him, but you could get him a nice fruit basket, or something like that. wine is tough unless he mentioned he drinks. GC are always good too!

Thanks. I agree that it's his job, but somehow I am under the impression that I was more labor intensive than most! Maybe I'm just paranoid.
I edited my subject title to clarify, I don't plan to tip him, was thinking more along the lines of a gift card to a restaurant. And good point on the wine, for all I know the man could be alcoholic, so I'll skip that!

Re: Gifting your kitchen designer?
I wouldn't give him anything... that's just me.
Obviously you DO want to give him something - so I think a GC to a restaurant is a nice idea. Or even just a handwritten note expressing your thanks and that you will be more than happy to refer him in the future.

I wouldn't give anything, but if I changed my mind and wanted to, it would be either a bottle of wine or edible arrangement. I think a GC for a restaurant is to personal.
