Gifts for autistic children?
What would be helpful academic type gifts for children of elementary school age? Is there any type of activity game, crafting set or toy an autistic child might like? I am looking for girls and boys.

Gifts for autistic children?
My son is ASD, he is 5. I don't think there is a specific type of toy I would recommend but I would find out what they like. If you give my son something he is not interested in (remote control cars or trains that go by themself) he has no interest. But give him a push Thomas train and he will be your best friend. He has friends that are autistic as well and I would say the same hold true with them. It has to be what they are interested in.

You need to find out what interests them. No two kids are a like and they are usually very specific in their interests. As a generic gift, I think most of the kids enjoy building blocks (just not the hard lego ones) since they work with them alot at school. Fidget items are also good (fidget cubes, rubber bracelets, stress balls).
