gifts for IA's/Office Staff, etc...

So, I was going to give a small plate of cookies and a candy cane to each of our 5 IA's (3 work directly with me, one does some clerical for me, and the other doesn't work with my kids at all, but she's fabulous, so I'm going to give her a plate too)... Then I was going to give the same to the 4 administrative assistants... Should I give a plate to the clinic aid also? She doesn't really do much except give my kids wet paper towels and play solitaire, but she's in the office also...

Also, I was going to do the same thing for my AP/and Principal, but now I'm thinking I should do something different.

Ugh! This is why I never do gifts! I end up feeling like I have to give to everyone!

Usually I just do the 2 secretaries and the health office aide...not the nurse- she does nothing but complain about teachers that send kids to her Chat Icon

I only give gifts to those who deserve a special something

I do not give my Principal and AP- I do not like crossing that line between professionalism and friendship...I also do not want to be construed as bribery since this is my tenure year KWIM

It seems to be a trend with school nurses.

Yes, I know I have a lot of kids who are 'sick' all the time... But I also can usually tell when a child is actually not feeling well... I especially like it when they get sent back for not having a fever... and then puke on my floor Chat Icon

my wing of the building collects money and we pool it all and do cash cards for the secretaries and custodians... so much easier that way. I get a gift for my T.A. since we work so closely together and saves my life on a daily basis! i am doing some baking for about 6-7 other people...that's it.

at our school, one teacher collects money from everybody ( i think its $30 a person). then she divides it up and gets gift cards for the principal, secrataries, staff assistants, custodians, and security guard as holiday gifts from everybody. its nice becasue i don't feel the pressure to buy or not buy or not wanting to look like i'm trying to "kiss up"
