girls on Lovenox or ( MTHFR) question for you
I am off to the Ob/gyn today and we are supposed to speak about delivery options. My perinatal Dr suggested a scheduled C section for me. He does not deliver the Ob does. I think the OB likes the idea of a induction w/ an epidural.
My ? is I was told that I will be pulled off of the Lovenox 2 days before delivery and the baby aspirin 5 days before.
What happens if my DS decides he doesn't want to wait until the scheduled day?
Anyone deal with that? Am I correct in assuming NO EPIDURAL?
I know I will find out later, just curious as to your experiences.

This was one of my fears as well. You are correct, if you go into labor before you have been off Lovenox for the required amount of time you cannot have an epidural. This is why many woman on Lovenox are switched to Heparin for the last month-it has a shorter shelf life in your body (only takes about 6 hours to leave your system) and they have a medication they can give you to counteract the Heparin when you are in labor.

Re: girls on Lovenox or ( MTHFR) question for you
I was switched from lovenox to heparin 2 weeks before my due date, just to be sure...not habving an epidural was NOT an option for me
My doctor and I decided to induce me at 39 weeks and I wound up with a c-section.....I had a great experience...
BTW, to answer your question, if you have lovenox in your system, most anestheologists (sp) will NOT give you an epi...good luck

Thank you for your answer. I called the Perinatal practice and spoke with one of my Dr's. He told me that he didn't think I would end up going too early but if that was a concern they had NO problem switching me to Heparin @ 36 weeks.
WEll DAMN straight that's what I want to do, b/c no pain med is not an option for me either!!!!
Thanks again for sharing, I am interested in everyones experiences with this issue
