Girls Who Color Their Own Hair
Please recommend the dye you use.
I'm considering dying my own hair. I have brown hair that was highlighted then dyed over back to brown. Now the ends and then some are starting to fad and lighten in the sun. This is causing me to have about 4-6 inch long roots.
What would you recommend?
Going to the salon isn't really an option right now, that's what I've always done in the past but I'm looking for a more "cost effective" *wink, wink* way out b/c I'm tired of the roots!
TIA!!!

I only dye my hair with semi-perm at home....it is gentle on your hair and lasts about 2months... can't beat the price either- $6!

Re: Girls Who Color Their Own Hair
i mix my own. i don't buy the "box" set.
but if you're interested: i always shop at sally beauty supply i buy #40 peroxide the color/brand torrids (which is a clairol... if i remember correctly... brand) i use number 670... a dark red.
i mix equal parts peroxide and color.
this might be more than what you were looking for :)

loreal preference.
do an "ash" base - it will get the reddish tints out of your hair.

that is what I have been using for years now. and I agree with using ash too. stay away from the terms "warm natural and golden" or it'll bring our your reddish tones.

Re: Girls Who Color Their Own Hair
For the record, I'm just looking to cover up what has already lightened from sun exposure.

How do you know how much to mix of each?
I'm looking to go darker, is there any mixing necessary?
