Girls who have GHI & are doing IVF
Hi Ladies, I got a price from my RE for IVF. With GHI coverage it is 7,500. I know when I switch to GHI I will be very lucky to HAVE any coverage, but I was wondering what some of you pay. If I spend the 7,500 and it doesnt work, I dont think I could afford another one. So I am very nervous. Thanks for your input ladies;-
Total out of Pocket expenses...5,319.69 plus meds plus 1,200 facility fee
Help!!!!

Hmmn...not sure what plan you have but most people seem to have the GHI plan I have which covers 75% with a 25% co-pay. For me, that means I only pay 1,200 out of pocket total as my clinic only pays GHI $4,800. What exactly is your plan? Is that $5,319.69 your co-pay? How did you come by that figure? Just know that you do not pay 25% of what someone pays out of pocket if this is the plan you have. You pay 25% of what GHI actually pays the clinic which is substantially less than what someone pays out of pocket. I think out of pocket my facility charges over $13,000. Also..why are you paying a facility fee? Shouldn't that be covered?

Re: Girls who have GHI & are doing IVF
I have GHI where they cover 75% of an IVF cycle. I had IVF in February and this is what I paid:
$1900 co-payment + meds which were approximately another $500-$600
The $1900 co-payment did not include the co-pays I had to pay for each monitoring visit.

Re: Girls who have GHI & are doing IVF
i have GHI...it depends on your coverage but i know with mine its a different amount covered if i go to a privately owned office vs. a hospital affiliated clinic.
for example; the facility charges are way more expensive for me if i went to North Shore or Columbia. Everything is more expensive thru a facility with my plan. i was informed even lab work done at a facility is more $ than if it was done at a dr's office.

Re: Girls who have GHI & are doing IVF
I believe with my plan, when we were going to do IVF, GHI would cover everything except my office copay and PGD (if we were having it done) They took care of all of my meds and sonos. I know GHI has different plans so Im sorry I cant help you.

I go to SIRM-NY and see Dr. Tortoriello. I do not get charged a seperate facility charge. However, GHI will not cover ICSI for me as DH does not have any sperm issues. If you plan on doing ICSI then add in another $2,500 if GHI will not cover it. What GHI plan do you have?

This is exactly what my GHI plan told me. I do get injectable covered however.
