Girls who took Lovenox Injections
How long did you take them for?
How badly did it hurt/bruise?
Any side effects?
Did your insurance cover them?
I would really appreciate hearing everyone's stories.
Thanks!

Re: Girls who took Lovenox Injections
I did them for about a week and then stopped (due to preparing for retrieval). I restart them tomorrow.
I didn't have any problems with them at all and didn't think they were any worse than any other injections I was doing. I bruised a little, but once I moved lower on my abdomen (below and to the sides of my belly button), I had no bruising.
My insurance covers it.
Good luck!

Re: Girls who took Lovenox Injections
How long did you take them for? i did them both before and after ER with a short break in the middle. ive been on them since right after my ET and i still do one a day and im 32w pregnant.
How badly did it hurt/bruise? at first they really burned but when u do them every day you find ways to lessen the sting. i have a bunch of things that work for me including injecting very slowly, icing the area first, and grabbing a nice chunk of fat. different methods work for different people but those basic ones work for me. as far as bruising, for me its hit or miss. ill go weeks with no bruises and then in one week ill bruise a lot and theyll last for weeks. there doesnt seem to be a rhyme or reason. ive been on it for 8 months or so and it still hit or miss.
Any side effects? none other than anticoagulation (bleeding more). when i bleed, i bleed more. thats just what happens from lovenox.
Did your insurance cover them? yes. i get the generic and i pay $30 copay for a month supply from freedom.
good luck!

Re: Girls who took Lovenox Injections
I started using lovenox after my ET and was going to use it my entire pregnancy. I'll do the same next time around.
It burns a little while it's going in, though sometimes it's not bad. I find the first 5 mins after it has a burning feeling but you get used to it. I'm a baby and I didn't find it a big deal
I didn't have any side effects, but the bruising was bad. I happen to be very fare though and when I showed it to Flowerwife, she said my bruises were much darker than hers... so I'm not sure if everyone has the same dark purple reaction The bruises don't hurt though.. just makes it annoying because if you get a lot of them you need to search for new good spots to do the injection till the bruises heal.
My insurance covered them...
Good luck!! It's really not bad at all .. Like everything else IF related, it just becomes routine Now that I'm taking a break and not using Lovenox, it feels weird. My belly is wayyyyyyy too clear Not that I miss the bruises, don't get me wrong....

Re: Girls who took Lovenox Injections
I took them for 2 pregnancies 8w-36w and then 2 weeks pp. I used hep from 36-38weeks. I would ice before and after and didn't bruise badly. Love handles were my friend. I had no side effects. My insurance covered it the whole time. I just had to pay the highest Rx co pay. So it was 70 a month (still a deal). They really are not bad at all. They do burn but it doesn't last long. The discomfort is well worth it. good luck

Re: Girls who took Lovenox Injections
I started using Lovenox a few weeks after my IUI and is continuing them throughout my pregnancy.
It doesn't hurt badly, but it stings after the injection. The first few didn't bruise, but now I have bruises everywhere.
No side effects
Yes, UHC covers all expenses.

Re: Girls who took Lovenox Injections
I started taking Lovenox at 6wks once a HB was found on a sono. I'm now 17wks and will continue the Lovenox until approximately 2-3wks before my c/s.
The bruising and pain isn't awful. There are definitely spots on my stomach that hurt more than others. There are spots that bleed. Then there are places that look like I've been beaten in a back alley. I've learned to avoid those areas through trial and error. Most of my bruises are little dots, smaller than a pea.
I haven't had any side effects that I've noticed.
My insurance covers the injections. I get a 3mo supply for 14$.
Good luck!

Re: Girls who took Lovenox Injections
i just stopped taking lovenox at 10 weeks.
the bruising was bad for me. the first week was fine, but then i would bruise after each injection. i am SUPER fair skinned and an easy bruiser to begin with.
the only side effect besides the burning when injecting and bruising was that i noticed my pain tolerance for the needle lessened. I never had an issue before and with the lovenox i had to ice the area before injecting.
my insurance covered it. i had the generic.

i have 3boxes left over of the generic lovenox if u want them. lovenox is so much easier than the heparin bc its 1 daily injection vs 2 of the heparin

Re: Girls who took Lovenox Injections
It's really hit or miss with the injections. My 1st cycle, the bruises were horrible were we took pictures b/c they were that bad. I was told to inject on a 45 degree angle and that's what I do now and just get a little pin point bruise. Sometimes, I'll hit a blood vessel and I'll have one large bruise. I've never iced before, usually take it in the morning and then hop in the shower so I don't have to think about the sting!
PennyCat-start a belly pic thread and I'll post my worst!

Thank you. I am not TTC again just yet but mentally preparing myself for how medicated and monitored I would be next time.

Re: Girls who took Lovenox Injections
Thank you everyone for your responses! I had a girlfriend tell me recently that she stopped the injections because the burning was SO bad, so it's reassuring to hear that it's not that bad. I appreciate you all sharing your experiences with me.

Re: Girls who took Lovenox Injections
As others have said, the shots do burn, but are very tolerable. I bruise, but I usually bruise easily. I used them for about a week in my stomach and it was very uncomfortable so 2 different doctors told me I could use my thigh (which was a lot more comfortable for me).
I have GHI and they did not cover ANYTHING for my IVF. However, I just filled my second monthly perscription and it only cost me $15.
