Girls with PCOS

Does anyone get EWCM? I have had it ALL week, and have tested (repeatedly) with an OPK, and nothing! I know someone posted here saying that we can get EWCM and NOT be O'ing, but does anyone know why this happens if in fact it is a sign of O??? It is such a tease Chat Icon

Re: Girls with PCOS

Could be that your hormone levels are fluctuating but its not enough to trigger ovulation. I get it too and I know that I don't O on my own.

I got it with no regularity...with PCOS I don't think EWCM means anything at all as far as ovulation.Chat Icon

Re: Girls with PCOS

I used to have it like clockwork before I was on the pill 3 years ago. Then I went on the pill for about a year and half, came off and never saw it again. But somehow or other over the course of that 1 1/2 years, I developed PCOS (didn't have it before). So, no I don't see EWCM. But I was also on Clomid for 6 months which dries it out.

Re: Girls with PCOS

Yes I get EWCM periodically. The reason what this happens is because many women with PCOS (including me) always have high levels of LH. Its increasing levels of LH that cause EWCM. However, you may never get a surge that causes ovulation. (this is why I have to get a trigger). The LH levels always kind of hover around the same high number. This is also why OPKs don't work for many PCOS women, they can get false positives.

Exactly, my last IUI cycle, I was so excited yet skeptical when I got a +OPK on CD13 when they did the sono and blood work, everything looked as if it would look on CD3.

Thank you so much for this info - that makes so much more sense.

However, this really stinks for us who have PCOS. How are we REALLY supposed to know when we're O if you can get a false positive on an OPK and get EWCM? Chat Icon

Yep it makes PCOS even more frustrating! We get the fertile signs, yet are not fertile!
