Giving tea to babies

My doc said it was OK to give my son (5 wks. old) chamomille(?) tea. If you have done this, can you tell me how long should I leave the tea bag in and when do I give it to DS? Between bottles? Any particular brand? Can I make a cup full and keep it in the fridge until I use it? The doc said only 1 oz. at a time. I am thinking of giving it to him before he goes down for the night. Sorry for all the questions! Any info would be greatly appreciated.

is it for colic? if so, I don't think you need to give him that much.

He is a gassy baby and I'm hoping it settles him down and helps him sleep a little better.

I gave DD tea only once. What the doctor told me is to make the tea just like you would for yourself and add a teaspoon of brown sugar to sweeten it a bit.

I think I made a 4oz bottle but she only took a sip or two.

It's supposed to work beautifully, as does fennel tea.

I believe you're only supposed to give a few teaspoons. But I would def ask your doctor. maybe if it's diluted, you can give more. Chat Icon

Re: Giving tea to babies

My ped had always told us 1 oz. You can refrigerate the extra tea and heat it later when you want to use it (similar idea to iced tea just reheating it). I would just give the tea as is without added sweetener. As far as the steeping, I would make it as directed on the box. You could always add a little more water after if you think it's too strong.
