Glucose Test Fasting
Does the fasting after midnight include water?
I wake up SO thirsty and just want to know what i'm allowed to do

Glucose Test Fasting
I didn't have to fast at all. I even ate breakfast that morning. Are you taking 1 hour or 3 hour? I think you only fast for 3 hour, but I'm not sure.

Yes I did not fast for the 1 hour. I ate protein for breakfast and drank water.

I didn't fast for the 1 hour either. My dr never told me to. But when I went to the lab the tech said "you didn't eat this morning right?" Since she phrased it that way I lied and said I didn't b/c there was no way I was coming back a different day. I still passed.

Yeah my doctor told me to not eat anything after midnight which isn't a big deal but i'm a BIG breakfast person.
Good thing my test is 8:30am

I wasn't told to fast until the hour after I drank the drink. Then I was told no water. That seems like an awful long time to not let a pregnant lady even have water though!

Try having to do the 3 hour. No water after drinking that awful drink for 3 hours. Torture!!

When I went I had no idea about water.
So I drank the drink and was sitting there in the waiting and took a sip of water from a bottle I brought. This woman who worked there saw it and YELLED at me across the desk, in front of the whole waiting room.
"YOU AREN'T SUPPOSED TO DRINK WATER!" She was very nasty and said they might have to cancel my test.
I had ONE FREAKING SIP!
I told her if she thought she was going to cancel my test she better get my doctor on the phone stat because I wasn't taking orders from her.
She piped down and when I went back from my blood draw I told the tech what happened and she shook her head and said that woman was notoriously very nasty and not to worry, a sip wouldn't affect anything.
I also asked my doctor when I went to see him next and he laughed and said she was nuts and it was fine that I had a sip or 2 of water.

my drs office told me no food no water. awful. this is my 3rd and first time told no food no water. Well b/c of the no water rule My veins were impossible to find, hard on a hydrated day. The tech was like you could have had water. there is no set rules which I don't understand for something as serious as this. i had to do the 3 hr as well 2nd and 3rd pregnancy
