OMG Rachel....if they don't care enough to visit you don't make a point to go over there anymore....I just feel bad for JT as well
I agree.
I'm soooo sorry you're dealing with this. I hate when people make what should be a wonderful time miserable!!!

I feel really bad for him as well. Especially because he is so dying for them to actually care. It's sad. However, he's currently having somewhat of a breakthrough. When we left, his mother stuffed a five dollar bill in Ava's carseat (ew, can we say germs near my newborn baby?), and she said," Hang onto that Ava, that's for when we go to Disney World!" And JT promptly responded, "Even if I came here everyday and you gave her five dollars each time, it still wouldn't be enough for Disney, so stop lying to my daughter." And he walked out!
Poor JT! I can't imagine having parents like that.

Re: Go ahead MIL, tell my daughter how you REALLY feel.
I would be so livid, My MIL is the same way. Everytime she comes over she doesnt even say hi to me she just grabs the baby from my arms and now at age 1 he is starting to feel the separation anxiety. SO besically everytime she hold him she says that I have to go away and doesnt let me near him. She does it in such an abrasive manner and the baby starts hysterical crying. Then she wonders why he doesnt jump into her arms

It's as if she was holding her the wrong way just to prove you wrong or something ... meanwhile she's not there in the middle of the night -- or all day long when you are the one taking care of an uncomfortable baby!

Well, exactly. And when JT told her that she cries all day, her response was, "She NEVER cries at MY house." I was like, hello, that's because we never go there.

I'm thinking you should just agree...repeat whatever she said "That's right Ava, Grandma doesn't know what she's doing. She is really crazy! What's that you want your mommmy? You don't like the crazy lady?"
Oh this could be just a huge fun time of passive aggressiveness.

After reading all that you posted about your MIL and while I think that children need all the family they can get, I would, without a doubt, greatly limit the time she spends with your daughter and, never leave her unattended with her. This woman is either mentally unstable or she is the dumbest person God ever plopped on this earth. IMO, she will continue to do everything to undercut and undermine you to your daughter and, as she gets older, it will only get worse. I am a mother, grandmother and MIL and I have the great privilege of taking care of my grandson on a regular basis. I would never, ever do anything to jeopardize that arrangement. He is one of the greatest joys of my life and, if my daughter and son-in-law tell me to do something in a specific way, then I would do it. To defy them would just be idiotic. This woman needs a firm talking to. People like this drive me insane!
