Going back to work in 2 weeks and so miserable
So I dont post alot but I definately lurk around. My maternity leave is up in 2 weeks. Im devestated. I would sell my arm in order to stay home with my lil boy but its just not possible right now. Im dealing with alot of emotions and stuff right now. Will he get over me, love me less, my mom is going to watch him and I wonder if she will be able to handle it or decide its too much, not to mention I would love to get him on some sort of napping schedule and now I feel like since I wont always be around that its all going to go out the window. Could other working moms give me some tips or advice here? Im in need of comforting words

I don't have any advice bc my maternity leave is due to end at the end of this month. I am literally sick over it and posted about it yesterday! What I do know is that he will NOT get over you and love you less!!!

Re: Going back to work in 2 weeks and so miserable
awww!! All of us working moms go through it.. so I understand COMPLETELY!! Those fears are normal but rest assured that it DOES get easier as day passes.. Your son will NEVER forget you.. You are his momma and that gummy smile will be the one thing that you'll look forward most to after a day at work...
You can try getting him on one now and then just let your mom in on it (and anything else you want her to follow) and take it from there..
It will be fine.. Take it one day at a time and try to not think too much about your going back to work in two weeks and instead focus on enjoying these days before work..

Re: Going back to work in 2 weeks and so miserable
When i went back to work FT, my ILs watched DS. I can tell you that I was still his favorite each and every day. I still got bigger smiles than anyone. If anything they were even bigger because I wasnt around all day!
Its never easy but as I am sure alot of working moms will tell you...it gets easier as you have a routine in place. You will figure it out.
And about a nap schedule...As long as your mom is on board I am sure you can set a nap schedule that works for all parties. My advice would be for the next 2 weeks log everything, when he eats, when he seems tired, when you put him donw, how long he slept. I found that once I wrote it all out, I saw a pattern and was able to make a schedule from there. My ILS were very bad with a schedule but I know plenty of grandparents who love schedules so just talk to your mom. And she will be fine. Remember she did raise her own kids!
Dont be sick over having to return to work. Keep in mind that you are doing it for your DS. YOu are doing it so you can provide a life for him. It doesnt in any way diminsh your relationship with him.

Re: Going back to work in 2 weeks and so miserable
All I can say is that the anticipation is worse than actually going back. Coming back to work was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life.
DD does NOT love me less. Even now, at 6 months she already gets so excited when she sees me, she wiggles her little body around!
When she is tired she STILL prefers me to my mother, who is with her all day.
You will figure it out, we all do
PS - my mother is MUCH better with a schedule than I ever was, so maybe ask your mom to help out with that!
