Going for a "deep cleaning" at the dentist (updated)
Please wish me luck, I am FREAKING out, I HATE the dentist
UPDATE:
I just got back to work. They gave me some novicane and I did not feel a thing. they also gave me some motrin 800's for later...Thanks for the well wishes. I love my dentist, he is so sensitive to my fears and gave me some laughing gas too

Take some tylenol before going. It will really help

Re: Going for a "deep cleaning" at the dentist
I went thru this in the summer. Take 3 tylenol before hand. This was the first time I ever took 3 tylenols. I am glad I did. Good luck at the dentist. I used to be so phobic, now it is not too bad.

I had it done 2 weeks ago, it's not so bad as long as you keep up maintenance.
Good luck!!

I think the birthday girl knows my dentist. You sound just like him. I brush and floss. I even brush under my tongue and the roof of my mouth. Apparently that is not good enough for him.

Re: Going for a "deep cleaning" at the dentist
Ask them to put the numbing gel on your gums, it helps BIG TIME.
I'm a big chicken when it comes to going to the dentist and my good friend is my hygenist!!! and when I go she always numbs it so I don't feel a thing. As soon as I do, I tell her and she applies more.
Hang in there it won't be so bad!

Technically with a scaling and root planning you should have novacaine. Take Motrin when you get home and warm salt water rinses will help. If you need any advice just FM me Your gums will be happy after this

I agree. When I had this done, they numbed my mouth with novacaine and I didn't feel a thing! It's not so bad. Good luck

I hate the dentist too - they always yell at me about how bad my gums are from vigorous brushing
