Going for a HSG tomorrow and I have a question.
Can I eat before the test? My doctor didnt give me any instructions and some websites say to fast and others say its ok to eat. Also did you need to take a laxative the night before? Thanks.

I didn't have to fast or take a laxative or anything. He did give me antibiotics to take a for couple days beforehand and a couple days after, and advised me to take Advil prior to the test. DEFINITELY do that!!

Didn't have to fast or take a laxative. I did make sure my bladder was empty though. And I would definitely recommend you take a pain reliever.

Thank you both. I do have antibiotics to take and I was told to take advil an hour before hand. Im anticipating cramps but hopefully they wont be too bad. I plan on going shopping with DH at the mall after.

ditto!!!!!!!!!!!!! plus i took a xanax cause i was sooooo nervous (nervous for no good reason)!!!!!!!!!!

i wasnt up for shopping, a little crampy so i wanted to go lay down.

I replied on your other thread, but I just remembered that I did take a Motrin before the test. I think it helped since I really did not have major cramping from it.

I suggest u eat something beforehand. I didn't and got very dizzy and the dr told me I should have eaten B4hand.
