Going on First plane ride....
We are going to FL in a few weeks. It is the first time we are traveling with DS on a plane. Any advise on what to bring? Also looking for any list of "must haves" while away. We are staying in a condo. DS is 6 months old. Thanks for any help girls!!!!

Re: Going on First plane ride....
We went to Florida when Ds was 10 months. I only brought what I needed for the trip and bought everything else once we got there. One thing I did bring, and I'm glad I did, was my own tube for DS for the pool. I will bring it again in June. As far as the flight, I just brought a few small toys and lots of snacks. DS wasn't great on the plane, but I suppose it could have been worse. This time I'm going to bring a portable DVD player and I'm hoping that will keep him distracted for a while. Plus my timeshare didn't have a DVD player, so I figure we can hook thge portable one up to the TV when we check in.

Re: Going on First plane ride....
Are you renting a car? If so, I would suggest bringing your own carseat. If there are extra seats on the plan they will let you bring the carseat on. I've been told to book the window and the aisle seat because most people won't choose a middle seat, so that seat os often left open. We're going to Florida in June, but they charge extra $$ to prebook your seats, so I'm just hoping to get lucky.

Re: Going on First plane ride....
Yes, we are renting a car...I am planning on just gate checking the carseat at the airport. I am thinking I need to call ahead to see if there are any special procedures I need to follow, like does it have to be in a bag or can they just check the carseat as is? I am trying to limit the amount of stuff we have to check as I think, and I can be wrong, it is only 2 pieces per person, plus a golf bag, right? UGH! I need to go do some research on this...it is so overwhelming! We are flying Southwest, so I hope to get my boarding pass early and get on the plane quickly!!

Re: Going on First plane ride....
This is going to sound silly but we have air traveled with my DS many times and a roll of scotch tape does wonders (my DS loves playing with tape, maybe your will too) and also sometimes pre-boarding is not the best thing in the world- sometimes you end up waiting on the plane longer than you have to...We have never purchased a seat for him and always got lucky and had an empty seat near us (we just asked at check-in if the flight was full and when its not they will accomodate you) He's 2 now -so no more freebies LOL...Also, if you bottle feed I bought along a small tupperware and had the stewardess put hot water in to heat the bottle...make sure you have a spare outfit in your carry-on (made that mistake once and had an "incident")...Have fun !

When you check in, ask about how booked the flight is, they may put you in seats nextto an empty one so you can bring the carseat right on the plane. Plus if you check it at the gate, like with the stroller, I don't think that counts as baggage. I also wouldn't suggest early boarding. For us, the less time on the plane the better. I try to be almost the last one on.
