Going to be a hypocrite and ask a covid question
I know I said I am sick of talking about covid so yes I’m an ahole being a hypocrite. I would like to preface and say this is just a factual answer I don’t need to hear about how they’re trying to take our lives over and control us. We are becoming communists socialists etc. how the vaccine doesn’t work, how the rules don’t make sense and they are ridiculous etc etc etc. heard this all already it’s been debated to death on here so if you want to do that please find one of those threads.
I just want to know if they have stated what the end game is. I know new masks regulations have now been implemented for daycares (yes I know it’s ridiculous) and yet I just read an article some countries (and yes some states but those states are not truly back)our trying to go back to life pre pandemic.
So state wise is it when most NYer are vaccinated the we can stop masks and quarantines etc?
As a country is it the same thing. Vaccinated rate has to be higher?
If the answer is they have not said great all I need to know. I really am trying to avoid the same unnecessary arguments that get us no where.

Re: Going to be a hypocrite and ask a covid question
I think we all saw a glimpse of normalcy in the late spring/summer before Delta got out of control. Now, with numbers rising and the variants contributing to the vaccine not being as effective as what was once thought, I can’t imagine the tri state area giving any real information on when things will be back to normal. We’re moving backwards on that with mask mandates, etc. although it’s still closer to normal IMO than it was compared to last year. To me, there’s no point in making promises because things are always changing. It would be nice to have something to look forward to, but I think it would lead to more frustration if new information comes out and changes that plan.

No, they have never said what the end game is. I don't think that there is an end game. I think at this point it is more that we are working towards living with this virus while mitigating the risk through vaccines and treatments. They are coming out with another announcement today regarding the third shot but there are disagreements about whether or not everyone should get it or just immunocompromised individuals.

Where have you found mask mandates besides schools and healthcare places?

Public transportation - trains, subways, planes etc
To answer the OP, I agree with MrsS2005 - I don't think an 'end game" has yet been stated, given what's happening with the Delta variant and now the MU variant lurking out there

Going to be a hypocrite and ask a covid question
There is no end game. Originally the end game was when 70% of the population (NY) was vaccinated. That went out the window. This is a major part of the problem because there is no end game. I believe that because of that, it is contributing to the outrage on many sides on all the mandates that are happening. If they gave clear and concise information, then it would be a little easier to accept a temporary mandate but when they keep changing the goal posts, it makes many feel like the mandates will be lasting forever.

There are businesses by me that still have their mask mandates signs up.

But that's not a "mandate". That's a private business making a rule for their business. Mandates come from the government. The only mandates I know of are in Schools, Transportation and Healthcare Facilities as mentioned by a PP.

And then there is Biden's mandates he announced.

Like a nursing or group home.
Actually his were testing or vaccine, not mask. Been a long morning.

Oh yeah- nursing home but I figured that was a health care facility. My DH isn't even supposed to be visiting his dad at all anymore in his nursing home- they moved all visits to outdoor only. But his dad can't get outside since he is bed bound so they are allowing "compassionate" visits for him. It was over a year he couldn't see him at all... now they are all vaccinated and they are starting this again.

Going to be a hypocrite and ask a covid question
There is no ending. That’s why I chose to end it for myself and my family. It’s a continuous moving goal post.
The only places we follow the “rules” and mask up is at doctors offices and school. But they wear cheesecloth masks.

Doesn’t Broadway now have one for anyone attending a show? Also, NY just expanded some of the mask requirements including at daycare. Wasn’t the mask mandate lifted or not enforced during summer school and then reinstated for the school year?
I meant going backwards on the mask mandates in my area. Where I live, the mask mandate was never lifted for schools and has covered daycare for over a year. Now, cities and towns can enact their own mask mandates for indoor places, which many of them have over the past month. I’m seeing this happen in towns and cities in other nearby states as well.

Going to be a hypocrite and ask a covid question
My opinion is that until we can get to a point where the transmission rate is low and stays low we will be having some sort of measures in place.

This.
I know many people on here are against vaccinating their kids, but I do believe that the ABILITY to vaccinate children will allow for things to be more normal in the coming months. I am not referring to mandating it. I assume 6-11 vaccination rates will be similar to 12-17, which is considerably lower than adults at least in my region.

I think it will be a lot lower for children that age. I honestly don't think it will do anything.

Re: Going to be a hypocrite and ask a covid question
I don't think that question has been answered. I remember when we wanted to make sure we didn't overwhelm the hospitals. I believe we were mostly successful here in NY. Not completely, but mostly. At least, I don't recall seeing stories of army veterans dying of gall stones because there was no bed in NY to take him to (like in TX). I know we had no place to put those that had died, but I *think* we had beds for the living.
I *think* at one time the end game was to get to the point where a vaccine was developed so life could resume some kind of normalcy. I think though, that what happened (and this is JMHO) was when we got there, the resistance (and I mean viral resistance [aka delta variant], and vaccine resistance) showed that it wasn't the end.
Now, I don't think anybody knows. I myself wonder if this will be like the Spanish Flu and just kind of die out, or if it will continue to kill thousands every year for the rest of my lifetime. I hope it is the former.

I agreee with this that’s why I asked cause I wasn’t sure if I missed it.
I just want an clear answer what needs to happen for this to be considered over. I follow the rules requested (for the most part) but I’m over it all. Especially quarantines that happen at schools!
