Good news came our way, we needed it.
I went to the doctor for my 2 week post partum checkup, and the doctor says everything is fine with me, I have a clean bill of health, and everything is where it should be. He said that we can start having sex when this bleeding stops after giving birth. He said to try to wait for 2 cycles to get pg, only to let the extra folic acid I am now taking (a normal pg person takes .04 mg, I am on 4 mg to prevent any babies from having the same diagnosis) to settle in. I asked IF we were to get pregnant before 2 cycles, would it be bad. He chuckled and said to try to wait the 2 cycles, however if we did get pregnant, just like any pregnancy, it would be 97% that nothing would happen to our second child.
So, DH is excited he gets some lovin' soon, and we are both excited that we get to start trying again in January! Thank you girls for all the prayers, we needed this good news.

Oh Janine that is great news!!! I'm so glad you have such a wonderful attitude after everything you have just been through- you are such a strong woman. You are in my prayers that you see that BFP asap!

First congratulations! I know you have been looking forward to this news. Did you Dr check your blood for MTHFR? Did he check your homcysteine. These are (usually) harmless but if you do have it you should be on a special form of FA called Metanx-it is broken down for you. People who have the MTHFR mutation do not have the enzyme that breaks down FA so they need some help

I will ask about this, but from what i've read, they need to do this when pregnant with an amnio, but I'll look more into it, maybe I read wrong.

Just a quick question...you said youre on 4 mg folic acid...I just checked my OTC prenatals and it says it contains 800 mg folic acid??!!??!!

Just a quick question...you said youre on 4 mg folic acid...I just checked my OTC prenatals and it says it contains 800 mg folic acid??!!??!!
no, I believe that means you are taking 800 micrograms....I think sometimes it is written the same way. I had to ask the doctor as well, bc everything I read was confusing me with the mg. You should be fine, but you can double check. If you have too much folic acid, it maskes vitamin deficiencies when you are pg, and that is not good..
I have researched that 4 mg (what I am now taking) is highest amount recommended.
