Good Sam hospital tour & classes?
Does anyone know anything about these? I'm still early but I keep reading with twins that you should go for a tour and classes early...but I have no idea how early they mean. I called the # and have been connected to the extension to get information multiple times but no one picks up except an answering machine. I left a message but it cut me off as I was finishing leaving the message so not sure if it left it or not.
I'm going to wait and give a call back next week if no one gets back to me, but figured I'd see if anyone knows when their upcoming classes are over the next 4-5 months and what the tour consists of. TIA!

Good Sam hospital tour & classes?
I took the basic class....WASTE of time. THe only good part was the tour. I took it mid December and was due Jan 19th and had DS on Dec 28th.
They go over hosptial proceedures and stuff and what to do when you checkin etc. They will show birthing videos which you can you tube and everyones birth is different anyway. Talk about the different drug options and then breathing and pushing. The birthing part the nurses help you with so much during delivery so its not required and once again you can you tube it.
I did the all day Sat class and was not worth sitting there uncomfy for so long.

Call before 3 and just leave you're name and number. They have been really good with getting right back to me. I am taking the parenting class on Feb 22 and the lamaze/tour 8hr class on Mar 2. Sorry can't be more helpful with the schedule. I knew what I wanted to sign up for when I called.

I went on the tour and took the csection class since i was told by the hospital it was required. Pretty much a waste of time.

I was scheduled to go at 30 weeks but got put on bedrest at 26. I never made it to the tour or cs class and it was fine. They recommend the cs class if you are having twins.

Good Sam hospital tour & classes?
I cant speak to the specific classes at Good Sam, but I just wanted to say that we took a Prepared Childbirth class last week. While it's nothing you absolutely must know before giving birth, I did find it to help make me more knowledgeable about the whole process and what to expect, which relieved alot of my anxiety. I recommend taking one.

I never had a tour at good sam. I took the mandatory Csection class and then took Lamaze with Baby Breaths (who is a vendor on here)

Re: Good Sam hospital tour & classes?
I took the Child Prep class at Good Sam and the c-section class (which they say is required but no one ever asked if we took it.) I would not say it is necessary but as someone else said, it made me feel a lot better and went over basics of childcare, esp expectations for the beginning. Nothing earth-shattering but I thought it was helpful. We did the all-day Sat class and got out a little early so it wasn't too bad. The c-section class though it a TOTAL waste of time!! I remember leaving a message and they got back to me within a few days. I think I was around 30 weeks when I took it.

The hospital will tell you the csection class is required but talk to your Dr. My Dr told me that he did nto care and he was not goign to stop and ask...did you take the class and where is the certificate.
Its a way for them to make $$$

C-section class is free and it's pretty useless, but it wasn't as useless as the full day lamaze class. I think they used to be better -- my sister did one 3 years ago and enjoyed it. The lady we took it with was very dry and was forcing her opinion of no epidural and breastfeeding down our throats. We got out only 10 minutes early and they didn't serve us lunch, even though they said on the website that lunch was served. IMO it was a complete waste of $150 (or $125...can't remember what we paid). I would suggest taking a short lamaze class -- the breathing techniques and relaxation techniques are good to know. I practice mine daily with DH just to get a rhythm down!

Re: Good Sam hospital tour & classes?
Thanks everyone. I did call back and leave a message (again) which didn't cut me off this time, around 1 I think, but haven't heard back yet... hopefully they'll call me back over the next few days and I'll take it from there.
