good start infant formula help..

I recently posted about my DD being colic..I went from the avent bottles now to the playtex dropins and the only difference I've seen is that she doesnt suck down the bottle as fast which is a good thing. However, it didnt make things any better or worse with the colic. Im looking into switching her to the nestle good start formula...(she is currently on enfamil lipil- dha/ara w/ iron) There are so many to choose from and Im not sure which one to choose. Any suggestions? (I did talk to my pediatrician and he knows im going to be switching and said either i could try a soy or try a different milk one) Thanks for your help ladies. :)Chat Icon

Re: good start infant formula help..

I had Reese on Enfamil Gentlease and switched to Good start (cheaper and I had coupons) and found she is a happier baby. I would recommend it.
Good Luck
PS: I also use drop ins, no gas or tummy aches for her either.

Good start with DHA ARA powder
I have some RTF cans that I purchased on sale. Either one is good

I tried this one but it still didn't help my gassy, colicy, constipated DS.

So we switched to the powdered purple can Good Start. It has been smooth sailing since

I believe so
It is the one that says it has the comfort protein for easy digestion

I also tried the new cultures one that is supposed to boost the immunity

But I went back. I figured why mess with a good thing

Rylan was very colicky too. We switched to good start in the orange can. I originally wanted to use the purple but I wasn't able to find it in RTF. It really helped us.

FYI...I know all babies are different but Soy made Rylan extremely gassy.

i just bought this can, the liquid form. Im going to try this one and see. I could not find the purple can either oddly enough. Which formula was Rylan on previously? I've heard that soy can make babies more gassy, but who knows.

oh yeah, and how long did it take before you noticed a difference?

I think the purple is powder only...which I use now so I wish I would have started him on that one. He started with Similac Advance in the hospital but they switched him to Similac Soy before we left. That made him so gassy so we switched to Similac Sensitive. That worked wonders for the gassiness but he was very colicky. We then tried Gentlease but he refused to drink it...we tried Nutramigen and he refused that also. We went back to the sensitive...but it wasn't helping for the colic and sleeping issues. That's when we went to Good Start.

It was a gradual change but started around the 2nd week.

Re: good start infant formula help..

We switched from Similac Advance to Good start when DS was 4-5 weeks old. He was having really bad gas pains with the Similac and although he wasnt crying it was visibly uncomfortable and would wake him often.
We tried the good start at our Drs suggestion because she said his issues didnt seem to stem from a lactose or milk issue so she would rather try this before going to soy.

It took ds about 10 days to see a difference but now its great! I will say he spit up more on GS, it appears thinner to me than Similac. But he is so comfy and happy now!

We also use the drop ins!

ETA: we use the orange can in RTF, but BJs, Costo and most places do sell it in powder! We use RTF because its easier and when we switched to powder, DS stopped sleeping through the night which he has been doing since about 8 weeks old!
