good thoughts for my dad please UPDATE
My dad is having hip replacement surgery today. i know its a common surgery, and hes young (55) and in good shape so he'll be fine. but just wanted to ask for some extra good thoughts that he comes through ok, and that his recovery is as easy as possible... thanks! 
UPDATE:
thanks for all the good thoughts! so, just like i thought- dad came through fine. The surgery was almost 3 hours instead of the 1 1/2 the doctor had thought, because he had to custom make something for the new hip... but hes in recovery now and everything is looking good.
They wanted him to go to a rehab center for a few days to get intense physical therapy, but its a section of a nursing home and he doesn't want to be there with all the "old people"  so hes gonna come home in a few days, and have the therapy there... everything in their house is on one floor, so he'll be ok getting around. they also have a pool which i hear is good for the physical therapy. so we'll see

I hope your dad's surgery went well! My dad had his hip replaced 5 or 6 years ago. The recovery was long, but he's doing great now -- running 4 miles a day, golfing, and staying active.
