Good times for Disney
So we have historically gone around marathon week (first week or two of January) but we didn't go this year since we had just gone at Christmastime (Thanksgiving week). Our annual passed expire Nov 25. I hope we get to renew them, but to make it worthwhile for the year we have to make another trip before then, so another XMas trip would be awesome, but isn't possible.
When is another good time to go?
We basically HAVE to go again since we have annual passes...darn it!
Last time we had AP we went in January and June, and while June wasn't that crowded and there was cooll stuff (Flower and garden show, star wars weekend) the heat was killer. Also, I hate waiting in line. HA!
When should we go again from Now - Nov 25 ?

Re: Good times for Disney
if you can, can you go now before the Febraury break? I just was there this weekend, and even though it wasa holiday weekend, it was totally manageable... we got through ALL of Epcot, Magic Kingdom and MGM in three days. lines were totally manageable with Fast Pass and mapping out a non-conventional route. the weater was nice and cool... very pleasant to be outside all day, but not hot. GOOD LUCK!

I think Premium Annual passes were $500+ last time we bought (Dec 2006) ...

They ahve two. One is an annual pass includes unlimited admission to all 4 parks at WDW. You also get Mickey Monitor (quarterly newsletter), Up to 40% your hotels (limited amount.,so you have to book early), 10% off some lunches, 15% off tours, etc.
With the Premium you get all that PLUS admission to the waterparks, DisneyQuest and pleasure island. We did the Premium last time and only went to the waterpark once and PI once, and DQ once and ti actually didn't really make up the difference, so it wasn't worth it. On the other hand, when we didn't have the Premium, we didn;'t even go to those places..we're more likely to do extra if they are paid for than if we have to shell out extra $$$ once we're onsite. This time we have the regular annual pass, and if we go to PI once or twice, it will still be less than the Premium.
Regular is $477 Premium is $563 according to mousesavers. I didn't buy them this time (they were my birthday gift from FH).
You also get free parking (this has never actually been an issue since we never get a car at the world.
And you get other vendor discounts like car rentals for example.
If it's your thing, you can also purchase passholder only pins and other merch.

We went Dec 10-17th. I was perfect. The kids were still in school and we waited on no lines. All of the Christmas shows, decor and parades were beautiful!

Re: Good times for Disney
growing up we always went the 1st or 2nd week in november. i grew up in NJ and we always had 2 days off of school then for the NJ state teachers convention. so my parents would take us out that week so we only missed 3 days and not 5.... its GREAT that time of year!!! the weather is nice and warm still, and hardly any crowds! and like somebody else said i think thats when they do the food and wine festival now, so thats an added bonus

Re: Good times for Disney
My favorite time is mid-may. It's warm but not humid and it's before the really rainy summer season. Kids are still in school so the crowds are not too bad at all. It gets a little more crowded over the weekend but nothing terrible.
September is nice crowd wise. They are practically non-existent. But it's really hot plus it's love bug and it's hurricaine season.
I am anxious to check out the Food & Wine festival - I haven't been there during that time yet and it sounds really cool.

Re: Good times for Disney
We are going end of Sept/beginning of Oct. I know from after labor day until most of Nov is pretty slow - I would pick end of Sept - end of Oct - b.c. you have MNSSHP and Food and Wine festival - so something different to do if you have been there a couple of times. Also it is one of the slow seasons.

Re: Good times for Disney
Thanks for the advice!
I think I am going to try for F&W/ MNSSHP. We've been a few times to Disney now, and i LOVED MVMCP, so I'm sure the Halloween party is just as awesome!

Re: Good times for Disney
2nd week of September. Great weather, empty parks! (i'm sure this goes through to Halloween, too). You might even be able to get free dining if they offer it again this year (its usually around that time), but i dont think they announce it until April-ish.
I'm SOO happy to finally be done with school in the spring so that September is an option for us again.
