good to know! UTI meds and birth defects
So I used to get regular UTI's and a while back the urologist prescribed macrobid to take preventitivley after BD...when I got pg before my OB said that macrobid is perfectly fine even when you are pregnat....so I still take it...
Well fastforward to this morning when my mom calls me to tell me there is a new article that indicates some UTI medication causes birth Defects!!! I was so mad at her for making me worry, but I called my doctor anyway. And guess what! he told me to stop taking the meds! That the new study is showing that!!! I had to call my mom and apologize! I never read/watch the news! So I wanted to share the info with you girls!!

Wow..I am so sorry you have to worry about this. And I get so mad when they legalize things before finding out all the possible side effects...
I get UTI from time to time also. My Dr. suggested taking Cranberry Pill supplements..and I have to say, while I was taking them I didn't get any UTI's, I stopped for about 3 months and wouldn't you know, I ended up with one??? Now I'm back to taking them!! I'm pretty sure you've tried it already...but if not, ask your Dr. about it.
I hope they find something that will help you without the scary side effect...

I get UTIs also, and agree with the cranberry supplements idea. Vitamin C is suposed to have a similar affect. But check with your doc to make sure they're safe for preggos.

It stinks because I've tried the cranberry and vitamin C...but last time I stopped the meds and tried that I got a UTI! it's the worst! So I'm just going to try again. If i get a UTI then I will just sit and talk to my doc. about my options??
